...why are you taking the hanger off again? I forget.

You can't really tell from that pic but they are rusted into oblivion. That one looks alright but it has become really thin. As in I can see it buckling thin.

I got nothing done today, just started staring at it. I'm half considering getting this one side done and getting a shop I deal with that did a set of Ranger springs not long ago to do the other side. I thing with a grinder it won't go to bad but I'm sketched out with the tank right there. Hopefully the weather is nice tomorrow and I don't feel so burnt out. If I can one side down i might just be the inspiration I need.

when we did mine wasn't too bad....

remove the tank skid plate....

support the tank with the floor-jack...

unbolt the tank straps...

push tank over enough to get the new bolts into the frame and wrench to hold them while we tighten them down...

put everything back....

and yes we ground the rivet heads off with the grinder.....

l8r, John

Alright John good to know. Well it's been raining tonight but that fine because I've got the labour day long weekend ahead of me. No work and the weather will hopefully hold decent. Should be able to get really far along over the course of those days. If I can't get the leaf spring free I could even get even get one side buttoned up.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Got the hangers off on one side and the leaf in the '98 to go to the spring shop right away. Going to pound out the rivets tomorrow and get the new hangers on and ready for the leaf. And I'm going to pre-bolt the shackle to the hanger. And I'm going to put the bolts in right side out, unlike the way ford did the back from the factory.

I totally forgot about the fuel tank... I guess that was one of the few things I didn't have to redo to make another change... She's lookin good!! Oh and you should paint back where you said f it.. help keep down on the rust muffins..

Should bribe someone with a welder to weld the bolts on to the inside of the frame. That way you never have to take the tank off or use a wrench on the inside of the frame!
