M5od in 1st Gen 2.3 Ranger

Lucky Day!

Windsor yard took my old automatic as a core for the M5od, I bought last week.

Found a 91 2.3 short bed to get my shifter stick, boot and floor plate. I grabbed the driveshaft, even though it has some serious fork lift damage.

My question now...are all the U-joints the same? I need to pick one up tonight/tomorrow, so I can swap the new M5od yolk to my trusty old driveshaft.

Scratch that last thought...

Now that I"m home, I see the overall length of the new driveshaft is a bit longer than my old one...looks like I'll have to reuse this damaged one I just bought....

Its clear now, though, that the diff flange is different on the new one....bolt spacing is larger...

It also appears, however, that the flange on the diff has two patterns on it, so maybe the other pattern will fit...

Insight?

All hard parts are in!

Trans tunnel is modded for M5od floor plate and shifter assembly.

Now it's down to the stubborn driveshaft....I think I'll have to reuse the diff flange yolk from my old one, and transplant it on the new driveshaft.

Dunno how likely it is that I'll be done for Monday, but I am close.

I'm back on the road again! Thanks for all your help.

I ended up bleeding the clutch master & line, out of the car, and gravity bled the slave, after.

I reused the driveshaft from PnP, despite it's minor fork lift damage....installed diff flage yolk from old auto driveshaft, with a new U-Joint.

I've still got to wire up the reverse lights, but I don't have a pigtail, or working switch...so that'll happen soon/eventually.

Feels great, despite needing shifter bushings....waiting on my repair kit from RockAuto.

Wow, it's so much more fun to drive!!!
