darn, I should have ordered the manual hubs!
I'll look to see if my 4x4 booklet says the same, probably does

On what truck the 91?

yep just replaced my auto hubs with manuals after breaking one trying to help pull someone out. Lol
Did you photograph it, or what was left of it? Still got the pieces ?

I think they may be sitting in a box in the garage but not 100%. To many projects to keep track at the moment.

I'll do some swapping for what's left of the old parts, If I have anything you can use

With the auto hubs since they have the plastic cam and how they work, just don't rock back and forth quickly, if you ease into things a little it should help...

That same book goes in all the 4WD James. I didn't get one with the Ranger, someone likely misplaced it and I only saw one with the Explorer and happened across it a couple days ago

Yeah mine says the same. I do want to put in manual hubs sometime, I wouldn't mind getting my hands on a set of Warn or Ford manual hubs but I might have to go with Mile Maker which I guess would be fine.

Someone said when you put in the hubs you should not pack them with grease but lightly lube them. Which route did you use?

I jest leave them alone as long as they look OK. If they are used replace the o’rings that seal against the rotor.

I pour a small amount of transmission fluid into the hub, and if it was a bit much just turn it up and drain it a bit

What that mean "turn it up"

That interesting so you lube vs grease I'll have to look at shop manual see what it instructs
Not that the manuals are the last word we know there is at least one error in them
