since you mentioned the frame......
these frames are 2 separate sections, front& rear and joined at the front spring hanger.
they overlap there and rust eats away from the inside. I would get a small hammer and test the frame for soft spots

I agree with this, been there, done that. I’ve also replaced the rear half of a frame and sectioned a front piece plus reinforced stuff. Rust sucks.
