Kyle M's Ranger Rebuild

You got that right, wheeling and saving/planning.

Next week or so I will be changing the steering up, shortening the drag link, flopping the tie rod to the top of the knuckle. I work on it almost everyday, little things here and there....

Ozzie you get the day off for the 1st?

The manager that does schedules said i should be able to have it off, i will know on my next schedule i'll pick up tomorrow. Al said he'd tow Lindsey and I up, if he can find a seat. If not, I'll drive.

soo.... When you going to paint the blue stuff back to Homo Green? :thefinger:

May as well wait 'til spring and paint the whole thing, huh?

You should paint everything to match, axles, driveshafts, bumpers, rims, everything. Green. :headbang: :icon_rofl:

i feel ya. I keep finding good deals on everything else, so the paint keeps getting pushed back. lol.

Well, got out in the garage a little today. I swapped in a new ujoint in the longer sploder shaft and put it on the truck. Only problem I had was the rubber seal was compressed too much to allow me to put the shaft in, so I left it out for now. I have 2" of compression left, so I should be fine, but I still wanna flex it out and see how much I use both ways. I have 6" of slip total, so only about 5" usable.

I also started cutting up my steering today, shortened the drag link 3" to match my track bar, then I welded some tabs on the tie rod to attach it, paint is drying as we speak. Now I just need to go get a few 3/4" bolts to finish it up.

My daughter came out and wanted to do something, so I gave her a 1/2" wrench and said take those bolt off.....she removed my front drive shaft for me, kinda nice! Then she helped me press in a new U joint, she had fun!

Pictures of the help, I will get more of the truck when it is done.

Hey Kyle, got some pictures of that traction bar on my buddy's truck. I'll explain it more after the pictures.

The second picture is a picture of how it works to not affect your flex at all. It is basically just sleeved pipe to allow it to move in and out and rotate within itself while still eliminating all or most axle wrap. He said he noticed worlds of difference after he added it. Hope this helps you and UrbanRedneckKid.

looks like itd work to me when your pinion goes to twist upward itd still push upward on itself thru the lower angled piece to the top pipe but can telescope when your not under hard excelleration.

Thanks for posting that up! Looks good, I think I will do something like that but I want it to hang lower to act as a guard for my drive shaft. I was thinking of making it run down both sides then plate the bottom to guard the shaft, then use a shackle or a slip, cetered with the shaft at the frame.

I'll be wheeling on the first, Kyle, look forward to seeing what your truck is capable of!
