Kyle M's Ranger Rebuild

Whats a fair price for my kit? $250 for the plate and stub?

put me down for one.....:icon_thumby:

btw....you deliver....:D

I hear ya on that spring wrap. Although my truck isn't technically finished, I've had it out backroadin and drag racing up and down the street:secret: (5.13s are nice!:icon_thumby:), but my spring wrap is terrible.
I can guarantee If I wasn't running a rear capable of over 600hp, that parts would have been flying. It's only bad news when the 36"s start hopping.

My buddy has a traction bar on his ranger that doesn't impede his flex whatsoever, I'll get pictures. :icon_thumby:

Wish I had the money for the plate and stub. Maybe down the road if you still wanna make one.

really would like to see this too

I would like a spare shaft for my doubler setup down the road. Let me know.
I definately like the direction of the build, snowing here too and Im going wheeling friday!

hey kyle, how much shorter you think your wheelbase is? do you like it better than the supercab frame?

It is about 12" shorter, my wheel base is at 115", axle is pusher forward around 2". I love it, way better to wheel, might even make it a couple inches shorter in the spring.

ok thanks, i was thinkin bout movin my axle ahead and bobbin the bed, i loved the short wheelbase of my b2

Yeah, I like the shorter a lot better with all the tight trails I run.

Alright, went wheeling yesterday, get to test the winch out a few times...and I finally found an issue(knew it would be eventually) but I poped my front drive shaft out, time for a long travel slip or just limit the droop, or both:D I was climbing a hill and I caught some air going up it, came down and heard flop flop flop...looked out and saw no tire spin, but it was an easy fix.

My truck broke...

my buddy freezing, fixing it for me

So on to the temporary solution

I have never checked how much engagement I have in my front shaft, it just never gave me any issues until now. But after seeing it apart I saw I had very little and since I pushed my axle forward about 1.5" I almost need to lengthen it too. Plan is to make a new one when I do the doubler so I just need something to work now. So I was in the garage and just happened to have a couple front shafts laying next to each other, one out a Ranger, the other out of and Explorer.

bottom one is the Explorer one, the top one is the Ranger one. Notice a difference between them?? I did...

the explorer slip area is about 1.5" longer. So my plan is to swap the front slips around and hopefully I will extend my shaft about 1.5", which will give me more engagement and should be a good temp solution until I limit it and build a new shaft. Here is the shaft on my truck as it sits now

Swappin the female slips should help. Not knowing my drive shaft engagement at my suspension limits scares the shit out of me. I pushed mine to full bump to make sure it wasn't too long then let my axle hang by the limit straps to make sure it was still engaged.

Ahh, that was my buddy...I was warm! But, yeah, he was cold, bitched about it for an hour after!

Ahhh yes, the 2nd gen Expos had a shorter shaft and longer slip, which is kinda weird if you think about it. Hope that works for you!

Whats goin on in this build!
