Knives

I've been looking at some Kershaws.

Right now I have a leatherman H502, it's a pretty good knife. Interchangeable bits, bottle opener, can opener make it handy. Too bad the blade is kinda crappy, but it works for what I use it for at the moment.

ive got at least 30 different pocket knives that at one time or another were my daily carry. currently im carrying my schrade x time because the handle frame is the right size and it opens quickly. before that was a gerber that cut me bad while i was taking it out of the packaging. it was gold with a balck rubber stripe on the side but its handle was too wide and like i said before we got off to a bad start. my favorite knifes though would have to be my kershaw ken onion and my gerber para frame. i would still be carrying either one of them if they could keep an edge for longer than a week. i recently bought a sharpener that is the most bad ass thing i have layed eyes on. its called redi edge and i got it at gander mountain. its only down side is that instead of lightly polishing the blade to a sharp edge it has two carbide bits that cut the blade to the perfect angle for agressive cutting. thats why i carry that x timer, it was cheap and this sharpener will eventually devour a blade but it sharpens in like 3-5 pulls so i guess its worth the trade off to me.

kershaw spring assisted opening are the sh*t

i know, i have 2 of them:thefinger:, but i just dont have the heart to put it in my fire gear, i mean the small one was 50, and the other was 80
ill just get a cheapo

Buck, case, old timer and apalachian trail.Always got one on me,sometimes two.

i was also a big fan of the benchmade automatic. push a button and the blade fligs out. its for military only and like 200 bucks a pop.

maybe thats why mine grew legs and walked away.

I've always had a knife in my possesion since I was 10 years old. I've had just about every common knife made. I quit buying expensive ones because they all get lost just as easy. I have an all metal one from the counter of the local carquest that works and I've had it longer than any other.
I worked in a junkyard for years and collected every knife I found. My oldest son (11)found one the other day that he liked and asked me if he could have it. I knew that he was responsible enough to have one so I said "sure". He is now suspended from school for three days. He said that it "fell" from his pocket and someone saw him pick it up. Well, we all know the truth. Now to see if he learned anything and keeps it out of school.

I have a Paraframe too and I like it. It's nice and thin, and unlike a lot of other knives I saw when looking, the blade is close to the length of the handle.

I want to need a pocketknife, it sounds neat, but I don't known what I would use it for and I would lose it. I have a big pair of crude scissors that do the things I would use a knife for.

My girlfriend got me a no-name/made in china spring loaded knife for my birthday, the things sharper than hell and more rugged than the beard of Chuck Norris.

That thing goes with me everywhere.

after reading and posting in this thread last night i decided to bring the para frame out of retirement but then i opened it and looked at how rounded the tip had gotten so i put it back and put the ken onion in my pocket. man i love this knife. will, do you actually carry a crude pair of scissors in your pocket or just keep them in a drawer? its getting so crazy with hte packaging these days that you need a knife to open the package of a new knife!

Picture time...

The top knife is my Kershaw Leek. About $50 or so and well worth it. It's a quality knife. Made in the USA.

The middle is a Gerber. It's pretty good too. Also made in the USA. I don't know what the price is (it was a gift).

The bottom box cutter I figured was worth throwing in because of the price. I got it for about $7 on sale at Home Depot. It's stainless steel and has a nice quick release for the blade. The downside, it's made in China...oh well.

Ive had several kershaws and overall they are great knives but had some problems with the screws coming loose, especially when you forget to take them out of your pocket when doin laundry but i cant blame the knife for that. Im also partial to Cold Steel knives but they can be a bit expensive.

Got a few,

Pride & joy is a Bill Lucket "TARANTULA" double edged fighting knife he made for me in 1984.

Cost $500.00 then, sculptured stainless blade with brass hilt, sub-hilt and cap and African Ironwood grips.

well i have quiet the collections lots of old case knives and buck couple that are worth abou 3grand each can remeber the name right now off hand but they were first runs still
, but still love my new kershaws the best carry one with me everywhere
