I got a mig, a cuttin torch and a grinder,,and I ain't afraid to use em.
Greetings Folks,,,,I just recently lucked onto a potentially great "Carport Find". It's a 1984 Bronco II with a 2.8, 4 speed, 4X4, A/C and 85,456 real miles. The trk had been under that carport since 1999, and some neighbors had a real need for some of it's parts, like the starter, the solenoid, rear driveshaft, Ignition coil,,,,dang thieves,,,!!! The body and paint (white) is in great shape and interior is pretty good considering it's age.
I am really needing some help from members that have a 84 similar to this as the dang thieves CUT the dang wires when they stole the starter solenoid and the coil. I bought a Chiltons book but the wiring drawing does not give me the same color wires as are on the trk. There are 4 wires at the solenoid area with fusible links that I'm assuming go to the positive post of battery and a 16 ga. blue W/red that I think goes to the "s" on the solenoid,,,??? I'm NOT wantin to experiment and burn something up,,is why I NEED help.
On the driver side inner fender, where I think the ignition coil was,,,there are two 18 ga. wires that have been cut,,one tan and one green and one big bout 8 ga. black wire, The replacement ignition coil I got does NOT have the terminals marked as to color so I have no clue if it makes a difference,,,??? The big black wire I think might be a ground,,???
I would really like to remove all the dang EPA stuff and hoses as the engine has had a serious oil leak and I can't even see the right side valve cover,,,!!
Can anybody PLEASE help an old timer with the wiring issues,,??
Many thanks in advance.

Hi and welcome to TRS.
Electrical isn't my strong suit but someone will be along to help. We have a great core of very knowledgeable people willing to help. In the meantime check out the tech articles at the top of the page, 3rd button from the left. It has come to be one of, if not the best, resources for RBV's [ranger based vehicles = ranger, bronco-2, explorer, and even aerostar].

Hey Lobudgetranger,,,Many thanks for those pics, Guy,,,I do appreciate your takin time to help. What the dang thieves left after cutting were 3 orange wires bout 10-12 ga and they all have a fusible link so I'm thinkin they must go on the Batt side of the solenoid,,,??? There is a red W/green wire bout 16 ga that must be the trigger for the starter,,?? Again,,Many thanks.

When I get home today from work I will look at it again ant tell you which wires are on what side
