Brief Explanation:

Ford vehicles with this alternator style commonly experience intermittent or no charging due to a corroded or loose fitting stator wire, most often found when the alternator starts to charge after wiggling the stator wire. This fix only applies if you are having this problem.

Tools Needed:

Needle nose pliers

Small flat screwdriver

Pick

Parts Needed:

Di-electric grease

---------------------------------------------------------
Make sure the ignition key is OFF

Steps 1: Remove the stator wire by gently prying the plastic tab and pulling the plug.

If the connector is corroded clean it by scratching it up with a pick. DO NOT spread the terminal of the connector more than it already is, that is what caused the trouble in the first place.

Steps 2:

Take the needle nose pliers and put a gentle and very slight twist on the pin sticking out of the alternator.

Put a dab of Di-electric grease in the connector and plug it back in.
