How do I swap bellhousings on A4LD?

I have a 90 Ranger w/2.9 and a bad A4LD. I bought a rebuilt A4LD that was for a 93 model with a 3.0 engine and the guy told me I could change the bellhousings. Then I find out the front pump must be re-shimmed. Also, it shifts differently than my old trans. Will this '93 A4LD from a 3.0 work in my 90 with the 2.9? If so, how do I go about changing the bell housings??

Take it to a Transmission Shop and have them do it. It has to be done right or the front pump will burn up.
