Gt-12

woulda been a good investment,though:icon_thumby:

At twice the price my friend!

well if it's worth that much, why haven't you come up here yet?:D

there's about to be the usual flood of your countrymen arriving to enjoy the experience, and they are going to be spending way more than it would cost you to go hook a tyee off the shores of langara:icon_thumby:

a tyee is a very large spring salmon, most americans call them 'king salmon'.

langara is a small island off the north west tip of haida gwaii.there's lots of major lodges there, like west coast fishing club and langara fishing lodge, and there's others in the general vicinity such as queen charlotte lodge and samson, plus a few others that all the big stars come to for a get-away.these are 5 star+ resorts for those with a lot of cash to spend.

just off the east side of langara island in dixon entrance is a good area to get yerself a tyee.

aaaaaannnyway....was making some carb linkages....

gt6005-48.jpg

there will be a bellcrank bolted to the intake below each carb.these need to be formed from 12ga steel,as well as the brackets that hold them.i cover the steel with tape so i can draw on it with a ballpoint pen, with small parts like this a felt pen just isn't accurate enough.

gt6007-30.jpg

after cutting them out, drilling some holes, and bending them up.....i have some linkages.the brackets will bolt to the intake studs,so i used the jig for the intakes to figure them out.the parts i'm waiting for are the ball joints that will connect everything together, but i was still able to get these ready ahead of time.

gt6008-21.jpg

a closeup of the bellcrank.i still need to round off the corners and such,as well as get a real pivot where the drillbit is,but that's the basic shape.a link will go up to the carb from one arm on the crank, and a link between the two cranks goes on the other arm.the cable that goes from the throttle pedal to the engine pulls on this arm.

You are a mechanical genius... would have taken me weeks to figure that out... and by that time I would have bought some..

if i could find someone that's selling them,i'd probably buy them too.

unfortunately, there's not too many places to get parts for this car.

True that.

BTW I don't think we ever got an answer on you building a RR vulture out of 4 2.9s for your next project lol...

i'm more likely to build a 920 cube v16 out of a pair of 460s.

or how 'bout a x 32 from four of the buggers?

No probably not lol...

but can you imagine what it would do in a boat? :headbang::yahoo::icon_hornsup:

ya....suck back a bunch of gas then blow a hole through the bottom of the hull.

i think i'd rather just mount four of them two wide and two deep.then,at least if one dies you aren't sunk.

sorry....i've spent enough time on the water to know what happens when an engine isn't reliable:shok:.

Yep. I've had one die on me... didn't have a phone or a radio. finally someone came by and called someone to come get me. took me like 4 hours to go 10 miles. first time I ever had a Boston Whaler let me down too. not the boat's fault though.

Maybe 2 pairs....

Tom, you're back buddy! Glad to see you made some real advancement on the car, it's going to be awesome! Made a little progress on the bike too while you were gone:D

so i've been plugging away at the shifter assembly.the shifter arm it'sself is made from a chunk of 1/2'' stainless rod.the top inch or so will poke out of the shifter boot,so i put it on the lathe and tapered it a bit before polishing it up.the groove a bit down is where the boot will be tied on.

the mechanism is the big black thing....still some parts to make for it,but it's coming together.i'll be using the stock gt6 shifter knob on this.

the ball joints for the throttle linkage came in today.after searching all over the carb manufacturers and custom parts places for these with no luck,i found a good selection in my marine parts catalog.these are a top-quality take-apart unit, but are expensive at $13 each.

gt6005-49.jpg

to take it apart you just pull back the sleeve on the female section.this makes for quick service, but is secure when in use(marine stuff is made not to fail easilly)

gt6006-31.jpg

while i was in the catalog i also got a compass and bilge pump sent up.boating season's coming up fast:headbang:

i went down to the hardware store in the hope they would have 3/16'' rod to make the links from.....and lo and behold, there it was.at three bucks a length it was one of the few things on this car that's reasonably priced.a few minutes with a 10-32 die and i've got my throttle links happenning.
