something bright....sorta like ferrari,i guess.not too dark,but not too orange either.once i get closer to that point,i'll spend some time going through the color charts.

A single thin white stripe off centre on the hood would look quite cool, IMO.

Sometimes an asymmetrical design will give you an interesting look without a perfect balance.

i'd though of something like that too,but i think i'm going to stick to the plan.i like the cobra-style stripes,even if it is not overly original.

so here's the plan...

1.those round lights across the bottom....gone.
2.the bumpers...gone.
3.side markers...gone.
4.pinch welds...gone.
5.top windshield seam...gone.
6.headlights...frenched.
7.taillights...small french,just the depth of the bezel,but still allowing the chrome to show.they seem to stick out too far,but i like the funky style of them.
8.gas cap.too cool,gotta polish that to a mirror finish.

so much for just sticking a jag motor into a gt6.this thing is getting out of hand,so i got it just where i want it

and by the way-that thing that houses the backup light and licence plate is cast aluminum...so i just might polish it up too.

i'm not real big on selling things...seems everything i've sold i've regretted it for one reason or another.
having said that,i have thought about how much cash it would take to pry it from my grasping hands...$35-40,000.
that should cover the bodywork....i'll throw in the rest gratis.

you're right-the headlights need frenching.the roof is as low as it goes,they are kinda bulbous on these,i've been considering ways to streamline it a bit but i may need to just live with it.
and yes,the top bar on the windshield needs to be raised.

Don't get me wrong I wasn't trying to say it was not low enough, hell any shorter you may as well not have a roof.... oh shit, shouldn't have said that.
Just that that top over the windshield will block part of the little view you'll have left with that engine in the way.

I'm the same way. The 84 Ranger in my sig died the end of last year, and when I say died I mean it made a grand exit sideways into a pecan tree at about 45 mph. Should I have let it go, probably but just couldn't do it. Now there's an 86 short bed (early) in the process of being rebuilt to match the 84. Now I just need GWAII to send me some of his energy, motivation, drive, and insanity. Well maybe need to leave that last part off or I may find myself trying to squeeze a V16 under the hood.

Now off to try to get a couple hours rest before I go look at this thing:

302 C.I. V8, Automatic, Power Steering, Power Brakes, A-C, Solid Old Car, No Holes in Floor Pans, Great for Restoration Project, runs but will not rev-up

They are asking $1500. I like the car's potential if the ad is truthful, but really don't need another project. If it were to find it's way home wit me it would have to sit for a couple of years before I could get started. If it is complete, and original it probably will follow me home though. If it's complete and was originally a BB car it may still follow me home, since there's a 390 FE with Thunderbird heads, intake and carb sitting in dad's back yard needing a new home. My biggest problem is I don't know what to look for when buying something like that.

That would be a fun project. Does anyone count their DD as a project? The problem with ME is that in order for me to so a 5.0 swap, I need another DD in the meantime, and my other 1970 project is years & thousands of $ from being done. *le sigh*

The Torino is cool, and looks in good physical condition (you cna definitely find worse). Where the Hell are you gonna find a V16? V22's are more popular and easier to find in junkyards.

I think I have nothing but projects, and they take turns serving as DD. The current DD is a 96 Ford Probe SE. Bought for $500. Needed CV axles, Clutch, belts. That turned into head gasket, and due to bent a re-ring (crank bearings were good). That turned into new crank (bearing were good but you don't wanna know about the thrust washer. Total into it as of now $2200. Former plan: GT body kit, paint, interior recolor, possibly turbo motor. Current Plan: "keep the POS running for a few years until the little truck is ready to take over that job". Next time it breaks the 99 (my second vehicle) will resume DD until I get it ironed out. The 84 (first vehicle) used to be the same way. The bike never did serve as a DD though. Hell it's barely even a driver, been sitting for the last 5 months, and for a year before that. Need to get the tank painted, do a tune up and sell it.

Torino looks cool, but as I said I'm not sure if it will happen. At this point it is less than likely to happen. It's really going to depend on what I find when I see the car in person, and what dad thinks about it. He is the one who'll have to get it from point A to point B for me, as I am currently out of truck and trailer. That said I think mom would buy the car for me if it meant getting rid of the bike sooner.

Ranger is bigger than GT6, 16 is bigger than 12. Where to find one? Check this link, course that don't mean I can actually get my hands on one. I was only referring to what I might try to do if I had a little of gwaii's obvious insanity, and when I say insanity I'm referring to what ever it it that the likes of him and DoorGunner have going on up stairs that makes them do the things they do. As for a V22 the only one I am aware of is the Osprey, and those have turbo prop engine FWIW. Having been 300 yards from one (blacked out, dropping off troops during battle simulations), It's way to big to fit a Ranger


Now gwaii post some more pics, I type to much when I'm bored. I'd read the thread again but I've already worn out one hand, and I don't need to short out another keyboard with the drool.

don't worry,i don't take offence.actually,if you go back about 15 pages or so to where the cowl was first brought in with the windshield frame,i discovered then that i could raise that bar...i just haven't got around to it yet.as for the roofline,that's one of the things i've been bothered a bit by,but i'm only going to redesign so much of this thing's style.so that part's just me.

dude,that is gorgeous.as for what to look for,rust is the big one.otherwise,make sure it's complete,especially the interior.it's a given that upholstery will need to be done,but finding all the little bits like guages and window cranks can eat up a lot of time and money.

I saw the thread title a bunch of times over the last couple months but thought, sounds like a car build.... I'm not a "car" guy so to speak, so I skipped it. Then 2 days ago I realized that you (Gwaii) were the OP and had also noticed people talking about gt-12 this and that in other threads. Got my curiosity going so I figured OK I should probably check it out.

WOW!!!

You take fab work to a whole nother lever dood!! Freakin AWESOME!

Then to realize your only just off the west coast, not far from me really. (minus the 7hr ferry ride) KEWL!!

We have about a foot of snow here as of last night, but after reading this, I'm heading outside to fab something up, not sure what yet, but I NEED to go cut and weld something ASAP!!

Reminds me, I was at a party a few years back, buddy had his Harley stored in the dinning room for the winter, after a few wobblies and some peer pressure, he did a big burnout on the lino, filled the room with smoke, exhaust and fuel and dug a hole in the floor! He ended up having to renovate later to get the smell out, lol.
