Full Width SAS on '90 Danger the 4th

Looks good, but just one question for ya...

Why does your front axle so turned up? Looks like you might have your wedge bushings in upside down maybe? Looks like it will be a chore to align too.

its getting there man

Yep, i see yours is on the changing path too haha.

I need mine done by october. We are going wheeling for my bachelor party then haha.

I thought so too. So i checked to make sure twice haha. I think its just because its not all set in there yet and there is not weight on it. At least thats what i hope

Finally got a weekend off of work and get a lot done. I changed the original plan on the coil bucket mounting and have the current set up tacked in. I found out i needed the buckets to sit 2.5" off of the frame rail so i used 4" channel with about a 2" leg for my spacers.

The first welder i used. Gasless mig. He bought it and let me use it first.

The other one was a new 110/220 Miller with 80/20 gas. Welds came out a lot nicer. Everything will be finished welded with an arc welder using 7018 rod.

The passenger side was easy. Made the channel long enough to fit the shock mount and the coil tower plus roll for error.

Drivers side has a pocket in the frame rail so i had to account for that using 2 channels. The first channel had leg modifications to get it to fit right.

I also had to cut a clearance hold for one of the steering box bolts.

Then i ordered new hub/rotor assemblies and splindle nuts so i could mount some tires so i can have have the weight of the truck sit over that axles. From there i can mount the Radius to the spot where i get the correct caster at 6.5-9.5 degrees.

Had a buddy come over and get some of the tricky welds. I trust him a lot more than me haha. He built a 91 GMC 1500 with a front 4 linked D60 and a AAM 11.5 rear. Sits on 40s.

Passenger side coil tower tacked in!

This is how the truck is going to sit. i have one jack stand under it because the rear is on stands and there is no track bar so the truck wants to slide off. But this is the height it is going to sit at minus 0.5-1". Those are 35" tires and 3.5" EB springs. Also, i moved the axle forward 4" so i will have to modify my front fenders.

I need to come up with fender flares if i drive on the road. Cops are going to be all over this out here.

Its coming along. It needs to be done by oct 8th haha. My next step is to get the correct rear lift blocks so the rear is all set and planted so the rear is not on jack stands any more. Once the rear is planted, i will be mounting the radius arm brackets. Once the axle is in, it is coming back out to get all new seals, locker, gears....

Lookin good man, I'm digging the f150 width. Could you do me a favor and get a ballpark measurment from the stock frame rail to the center of the coil?

Thanks man. They are roughly 7.5" from center of the coil to side of the frame rail.

Got the truck sitting on all 4 wheels and tires.

Now to design the steering and track bar.

Radius arms tacked. Discovered i need to drop them about 1/4" to get the correct caster i need.

Since I moved the axle forward, the drop pitman arm is in the way of where i want to mount the track bar. I need a straight pitman arm. A 2wd arm should do the truck if the splines are the same.

How it sits with a ratchet strap track bar haha. It sits perfect. Nice and low. Excited about some fender trimming.

The rear turned out great. I was able to use the original blocks.

Getting there!

Dang, wish I had seen the build sooner. If you get 78/79 radius arm frame brackets you will get the drop you want without the the need for the spacer bracket. Aside from that...Lookin Good!

Looks good, but how are you going to adjust the alignment with no adjusters?

He can still do toe in/out..... as long as he got the steering wheel centered, and the axle centered with the track bar he's got the only one that really matters.

Thanks Man!
I have a set of full size brackets. And i now see your point. My arms are EB and i didnt have a torch to get off the nut. I think i am going to borrow a torch, get the EB brackets off and mount the full size ones. Plus, the EB look bad with the spacers. Thanks for that input

And yes, I am able to align it with this setup.

update this. you were workin' on it tonight, in between being interrupted to help pull the subi motor.

Haha, you found one of my build threads.

Update:
It turns out the D44 locker i got is for 3.92 and down, not the advertised 3.92 and up. So i went looking for a ring spacer, which i know is not a good idea, and it turns out they dont make them for the D44. So then i tried to go the next cheaper route which was to find Thick Reverse 5.13s. They dont make those either. So i guess i need to sell the unit i have and find another front carrier. Hopefully i can find an OX Locker unit for under $500-550. That would be sweet.
Anyone need a Dana 44 TruTrac? Has new carrier bearings...
