Update End of 2010

Well i have been busy the last few months. Had my bachelor party in early October, closed on a House at the end of October, got marrried in November and went on a honeymoon to TN shortly after. Then we moved into the house thanksgiving weekend. After that it was a few weeks of organizing and then we got a few feet of snow and the holidays. But now were are getting back on track. I sold the front locker i had since it was the wrong split and i got a cheap open differential for now.

Here are some pictures to wrap up the last few months:

OH MY..... I love your housing situation. That is EXACTLY what I want when i move back to KY.

Now.... GET CHO ASS BACK TO WORK!:thefinger:

Ranger Progress

Well I finally got a diff to work, it’s an open diff but it will work for the time being. I will just get a lunch box locker in the future. So once I got that all set, new pinion seal, new spindles and hub assemblies, it was time to test the 4WD. My stock front drive shaft, which was shortened to work with my D35 TTB swap works great with my D44. The U joints are all the same size. So that was pretty nice.

What is left:
Bleed the brakes
Measure and install front shocks, I have new 1979 shock mounts
Make a new radius arm cross member, I just made a temp one for now
Re-install my speedometer gear
Trim all 4 fenders – got a new dremel from Santa
Make front Cab mounts, they dont exist currently
Install my front bumper
Get new or newer tires!
Make a front sway bar

Future:
Fender flares once I get pulled over
Cut frame behind rear leaf mounts
Tube bed
Rock sliders and nerf bars

Thanks man! We love it!! 70% of the house has been updated as well. I drive 45 miles one way to work now, but I hit 3 lights in that drive since its all highway. And with my Focus, its not bad on fuel. The house is only 8 miles from her job. I rather have me drive than her. The house has 2 wood burners and the shop has one and the detached 2 car has gas. I never thought i would have this as a first house. I worked my butt off for it though. But now that all the craziness has passed, its building time! :icon_welder:

yea man, i have been working my ass off in school and the MC, but once i get a new job back in KY, I am going to buy a house around lexington. I was looking and I could have a mansion for what i pay for my little ass apartment out here.

nice going bud, congrats on the marriage, and the ranger looks awesome. looks like you had a good time, i was thinking the other day where you been lol

Well, i burned up my outter pinion bearing driving around the yard. I guess i never went fast enough to get oil up there or i set the preload wrong. Who knows. Anyways, the D44 is currently appart. The pinion has been re-installed and i figure since its all apart, i should just get a locker to put in. So when i get my tax return this friday, a locker will be on order. Probably just a lunch box locker. Trying to keep this build cheap. Cheaper than a new ATV at least.

So since i am waiting for parts to finish the front, i decided to start cutting fenders haha. I am not good at body work. I do not have a good steady hand. Trucks are trucks, i dont need it to be perfect. So i just cut only the factory flare line and it ended up coming out quite well.

Pulled the fender off and set it on some horses

I just ended up using my 5" grinder with a cut out wheel. I made a few passes with out going through. Once i was almost through, i just bent it back and forth until it broke off.

Then i followed the Fender Cutting 101 Sticky on here and followed through with the inner fender.
I used the Dremel Trio i got from santa to cut the inner fender up.

Good Luck in school. I know how you feel. I have been there. Just hang in there. It will all pay off.

I like your fender trimming. I need to do that to mine so I can lower it some

update 2-27

I recently found 4 36x14.50 TSL Radials on CL for $250. 2 are about 70% (measured with calipers), one is an excellent spare and the 4th is not too good. They look better in person. The plan was to buy 2 new ones to match the 2 good ones. Turns out, Interco is not doing so hot and are not producing this tire right now. The ones that i have found are $400 bucks each. So I found out the 36x14.50s are actually 35.6" tall. Most aggressive Interco tires in the 35x12.50 size are about 35.4" tall. So i ordered 2 new 35x12.50 LTBs to use on the front of my truck. It should work out since my rear track is slightly narrower than the front.

I also just ordered an Aussie locker for the D44. I am currently waiting for that to come in so i can get my front end back together. Then i can finally weld my front shock towers and measure for shocks.

I pulled my shocks off the front of my 03 Superduty. They look like they will be a perfect fit. My Rangers static height is going to put me at about 18 inches. My SD front shocks are 14" compressed and 23" Stretched. The are also only $22 each at Autozone. Since i am using the super soft coils, the stiff shocks should be a good balance. But I wont know for sure until i am rolling again and can do actual measurements.
