Farm and Garden

No pictures to show. I didn't get as much winter prep done with the garden as I would have liked. I wanted to have a layer of mulch manure over the leaves before it got cold. Well, it got cold sooner than expected and other things that needed fixed now got in the way. So, only 1/2 of the garden bed got covered (the half that typically runs out of leaves in past years). Like it or not, will have to do for this year. I did get a broad fork to make breaking up of the soil and mixing the leaves into the dirt quicker and less labor intensive. So. I'll be playing with that in a few weeks to get ready for this year's growing season.
I’m too busy with my late winter V8 crop.

Yes. Harvest went well. Still cleaning and preparing to add herbs and spices.
Going to serve it with a side dish of auto-trans, followed by manual T-case for dessert.

Meanwhile in snowy, wet, windy, warm (whatever season it decides) Iowa, the farming has begin with a fresh batch of poultry and water fowl. Also, starting the youngest young.

Im promoting a new product, I get buckets for free at work & the chickens do nothing but poop all winter so why not? might be a hit!

Looks like they come with a lid. That price is cheaper than the big box stores charge up here. Might be a hit...

Got some more work done on repairs to the 3-point brush hog and making some clearance for the driveshaft. Antique tractor problems, I was told to run an over-run coupler so it doesn’t push me downhill but that makes clearance on the front of the deck a real issue. A modern tractor that I can run the driveshaft and hydraulics separately wouldn’t be an issue.

I don’t see why this won’t work though, the blade shouldn’t get into my clearance notch unless something goes wrong under there. I may add some gussets and obviously still need to patch in my clearance notch, which I’m thinking I may do 1/4” plate on the angles just to give some resistance if things do go badly under it at some point. May add some gussets too since the original had 1/4” angle across there and I used 1/8” C channel. Even thinner though, C channel should be stronger than angle.
