Hi all, I've got a 1992 Ranger with the 2.3 and after doing some IQ tests recently noticed a significant drop in score. Come to find out I'm my exhaust is leaking in two spots.
I have replaced the exhaust manifold and it's continuing to leak from where the EGR tube meets the exhaust manifold. I've read that this doesn't need to be particularly tight so I started it at wrist tight and I've tightened this bolt a few times and seen no improvement, its quite tight at this point and has a healthy amount of anti-seize on it. It seems like the EGR tube and thread adapter are pretty hard to find and were never available from a third party manufacturer as far as I can tell.
Also the weld at the front of the muffler is leaking too, this muffler was installed about 4 years ago and my putty patch job has done nothing to improve.
I am not sure what the best course of action is now. Should I track down a new EGR tube and thread adapter from a pick-n-pull? Should I get the muffler welded? Thanks for any and all input!
Here's a video of the leaks with some soap on and the blower hooked up to the exhaust tip:
