which ones better-detroit true trac locker with the gears or power trax lockright the detroit ones about $350 and the power trax is $250 i'm not doing any rock crawling but there is alot of mud and snow here so any advice on which ones better thanks

The true trac is not a locker, it's a gear-type limited slip, no clutch discs. The lockright would be better if you spend a lot of time offroading. The true trac would be great in the front-end.

i have a powertrax no slip in the rear, and have no complains fter a few thousand miles.. does its job great. and it makes donuts fool proof :clapping:

yeah this is for the front end sorry so it would be better to go with the detroit one then?

They have a True-Trac for the D35 yes, although I heard something you want to reverse the bevel gears in it (it was made for a rear D35, using it up front puts the load on the opposite side of the gears). Reider Racing I know can modify it for front use.

I never even thought of that. I plan on sticking a true trac in my 35 front, so I better look into that.

4 Wheel Parts is the place to go. One more thing to consider is how often the truck is driven on the road versus offroad. If this truck is used a lot more offroad, and you don't want to deal with setting up the gears, that lock right might be a better choice because it simply replaces the spider gears in the stock carrier. The truck won't steer as well with a locker in the front when your hubs are locked in.

Yes, especially the no-slip, which is smoother than a lock-right. I daily drive with a lock-right, would have a no slip but they arent made for the 7.5 (they are made for your 8.8 though!) but I have no complaints, not bad at all.

the only place i can find a no slip is at summit and they are saying $450, also they say it only fits 98-01.. im asuming an 01 8.8 28 spline is the same as a 04, is that correct?

also im new to this whole truck/off roading thing.. i know i have 4.10's in my rear which im assuming is also in the front but what size is the diff in the front? is it 8.8 as well or is it smaller? if i where to lock the front would it be streetable as well? can i use the same locker for the front as the rear?

Front axle is a d35. All 28 spline 8.8s are the same. The problem with the front is there are no lock out hubs so the shafts are always spinning, although since there is no power to them it shouldn't make it steer weird, lots of jeepers run front lockers with d30s (no lockouts either) but say it doesn't really effect it, you may hear a bit of clicking when you turn though.

sry im a noob.. whats a d35? and are you saying the front is an 8.8 as well just a diferent brand or is it compleatly diferent.. im confused lol sry. im assuming d35 is a dana 35.. but that still means nothing to me.. im confused on why they wouldent put the same in the front as the rear..

**edit: ok did some research and found this

so its just the "case" thats diferent im assuming theres still 4.10's in it? and the axles are not as strong or big as the rear..

am i getting this? lol
