dangerranger1983 build

It's out of the way enough now. I will say the truck was down a quart or so of oil but also i did have oil in the lines of the relocator and in the engine, oil cling on that it didn't have when i put the engine in. Also need to check the trans fluid too. Was 26797534 times easier and less messy then changing the oil from my old 2.8

hmm, I thought my 2.8 was extremely easy to change the oil on, just about as easy as my moms econoline. Now my friends escape is a PITA.

:annoyed:

I guess people can't read lol. I went by advance the other day and they had a sale I thought was worth while. A jug of Pennzoil full synth with a k&n oil filter, 19.99 after mail in rebate. I might pick one up for my truck for when its time to fire it up.

Do a SAS with the 2.8 in, you will understand.

Or I'll just say it. The oil comes right out and the arm is right in it's path, makes a hell of a mess. Plus getting the filter off with the arm in the way makes it suck too.

And the gas gauge is acting up again, need to get that fixed but over all mileage us much better and i will hopefully get it to where i want once warm weather arrives.

Suppose to get snow tomorrow so i will hopefully have pics for the snow thread.

My dad always used Fram on all of his vehicles and Pennzoil and we have never had a problem. Like father like son I grew up around that and have used the samething.

Should have done the oil change sooner though since I didnt know how long the engine had been sitting and it was a little dirty on the inside, but no sludge anywhere. (oh wait I had an oil line issue way back that drianed the engine in about 10 seconds so nevermind) but i do want to get some lucas oil stuff put in it to help but the syntetic blend should be good as I am trying to get the best MPGs out of it but sacrafice to much power.

Now I need to do one thing and that is get a 4wd ranger crossmember, same as mine, so that I can get my crossmemer modded. Anybody got one laying around that they are willing to let go for cheap?

I used to run fram all the time until I had one fail on me. I was pulling chunks of paper out of the oil and thought it was the filter part. So I opened it up and the filter was all there, complete. The ends were made of cardboard, that's what failed and the engine sucked into the motor and starved it for oil; plugging oil passages. That was 10 years ago and I never used one since. I'm sure it was probably one in a thousand chance, but I won't make the same mistake again.

The problem is every filter brands has it failures but one company always has more of the spot light then the others will.

I have a crossmember. Come and get it.

I would spend more in gas then it's worth but may consider buying it off you if you are willing to ship it to me. New on Ebay is $110 and i don't want to make the guys at my salvage yard to go through so much to get one out. But before i get one, going to get a driveshaft and see if i have to mod the cross member to go under or over the shaft.

Probably cost a whole $5 to pull one at the u-pull.

The u pull is to far from me and my local yard is all on dirt. Ground is to soggy and when they pull this kind of stuff, they bust out the fork lift. Maybe i can find one already taken off.

Got some goodies. Front shaft from and f150 and a 2wd crossemember. The shaft has been taken care of from the looks of it. Didnt have factory joints in it and was redone by a driveshaft shop here. Also the 2wd crossmember will graphed into my current one since the down hump isnt over enoguh for the front shaft.

Also does it matter which end of the shaft is hooked to the diff or transfercase? I test fit it the other dirrection but doesnt clear that way either.

I think i have decided that i want another 4wd cross member and mod it do that my truck won't be off the road other then the time of switching them out.

So the next question is, anybody got one laying around for a first gen 4wd ranger?

I have a 2nd gen one if they are the same. doubt they are tho

I used to have a gen 1. But scrapped it a few weeks before you did the 5.0 swap. Guess I should start asking if you need anything before I get rid of it from now on.
