daily doubler build

Yeah, I've got the PM on pirate still. It was $110 shipped plus $20 per option (half in midplate, drain plug, etc). I'm still up in the air about it. I'm not a huge fan of the smaller sealing surface area, but it is a nice cover.

Just put in a $300 order from ballistic for all my joints/rod ends/bushings/coil buckets/tube adapters/etc. I also got a pair of calipers so I can get those installed.

One more big order to Parts Mike and I should be done buying parts for the swap, thank god. Anyone want to give me some 2"x.250" DOM? I need to extend my RA's.

Lemme know how the coil buckets work with the bulge on the driverside by the steering box. I need to install a set to lower the coil's down and move the axle forward.

I'm debating buying 40-50ft of 2.0"x2.0"x0.120"wt square tube this week for a project I'm thinking about starting, want me to see what 14th has?

They didn't have any Ø2.0x0.25"wt when I was buying, but that could have changed since steel prices have tanked since then.

Where are you guys getting your steel from? The place I go to in Princeton hasn't been too reliable for getting DOM, but I haven't checked since this summer. They do have plenty of everything else though.

Wahlstrom - Stay tuned, there'll be plenty of pics of the install

John - You can check but I doubt 14th has much. I called inquiring about some 2x3 rectangle and they didn't have any. Its worth a shot though, let me know what you come up with.

Brad - As far as DOM, I called Hagerty in East Peoria for a quote on 8' of 2"x.250 wall, they wanted $125. 16bucks/foot is a bit rich for my blood. They carry damn near everything though and don't have a minimum quantity for orders so that's good. I'm gonna post over at MIJC to see where they get there stuff. Maybe someone will have a stick they'll sell me on the cheap (yeah right lol).

Have you called Lucas Iron Works? They have all kinds of material, and sometimes let scrap pieces go pretty cheap.

DOM you have to hunt around for, I found a couple pieces at 14th one time. He said he ordered it for someone that never picked it up or paid for it. Something weird like that. It was still only 0.125" though.

I'll give em a call. I need some rectangle for crossmembers and the DOM for extending the RA's. My post hasn't gotten any hits yet at MIJC, we'll see what develops.

Got a few replies over at MIJC. Seems they all use online suppliers. Looks like I'll be calling all the local guys and comparing with the online suppliers. Shipping can't be cheap...

Of the replies I've got thus far, they use

onlinemetals.com
ballisticfabrication.com
bluetorchfab.com
polyperformance.com

Hot damn! Their paying through the nose!

That's the Mid-Illini Jeep Club, right? Figures....

Nice thread Bray, should work well when finished, just make sure your know how to measure correctly for your coil buckets hahaha.

I'm tellin you guys to go to bessler welding on 116 right after thortons, before the big hill to metamora. I dunno about calling, but whenever i walk in there we jus walk to the back, cut whatever i what, and get some good prices. They have a huge selection too.
