so im currently looking at a 1993 Ford Explorer 4.0 ohv 5 spd manual on D44 and ford 9" with hydro steer, it needs new coils, steering bushings, and gears, if i were to use this as a weekend warrior/ daily driver what wld be the best gearing and coils to run? and how much wld steering bushings cost, the guy is only asking 1700 so im really trying to get this :icon_surprised:

Looks like a complete hack job from that one photo. I'd rip it out and start over

what do you mean complete hack job? sorry, kind of new to all of this sort of thing, any help is appreciated

If that's his idea of a full hydro setup, I can garuntee you something else is hacked (redneck built) The more I look at it, the more it just looks like a dual steering stabilizer setup.

if it runs that a great price for a trail rig...

but you will likely be working on it. i would buy it, but i would not need to ask questions on how to fix maintain or upgrade it either.

I think that's just steering stabilizers and not full hdyro steering!

the ad doesnt list full hyrdo anywhere. but i agree with everyone else, those are duak steering stabilizers.

Hard to see anything really what's going on with it (but agreed, they do look like nothing more than steering stabilizers).

Unless you know the ins & outs of a SAS and can tell a hack from one done properly (what is a "steering bushing"??), I'd avoid it.

really?

if that was hacked to shit its still cheaper to fix that then build a whole truck from scratch...it already works!! all the main shit is there.

14-1700 is a steal. isnt it??

a guy i helped out last summer had over 1000 in shipping parts and his truck is still on blocks.:shok:

Im with bobby on this one! For whats done on this its its pretty cheap. If it was closer I would buy it.

You two don't count. :thefinger: Both of you seem you would know how to fix all the issues on something that is hacked together (I could be tempted to get it as well myself if the engine & trans were in good shape).

I'm asking about the OP.
In that one single pic I think I'm already seeing what looks like bent or cut-up "Z-link" steering draglink crap. The ad also says "needs some repairs", but fails to say what they are. More hidden surprises probably.

I would say to the OP, try to get some pics of this thing's suspension, steering, and axles, along with all the brackets where stuff attaches to the frame (spring hangers, radius arm brackets, etc.), then post them here. :icon_thumby:
