Full size axel swap 78 d44 and 9" SAS in 86 B2

yeah its all in place and installed i have my toe in set accordingly
i have the steering locked into place on center
but the springs make the truck want to shift to the drivers side of the axle
so i hooked a ratchet strap to the passenger lower coil mount and the upper coil bucket on the drivers side, but when i tighten it it pulls the drivers side down a little bit, if that makes sense.

the only thing that has occurred to me is to pull the truck at the frame laterally from the passenger, i just need to figure out something to hook on to.

Easiest way to do that is record the ride height, remove the springs, set the frame at ride height then center the axle...

well today i finished most of my to do list.
i got my custom trac bar finished and welded
My trac bar mount fabbed and welded to the frame,
and got it all installed.
i also got my rear leaf perches welded to the 9" and my pinion angle set
got my drivers side rear shock mount fabbed up and welded on.

Now I'm just waiting on My shocks in the mail should be here on monday, or I'm going to be calling 4wheelparts.com n doing some A**Chewing, i ordered them on monday, with 3-5 day shipping.

ill have some pics for you guys when i get a chance.
it turned out real nice.
can't wait to get shocks on it and get some plates!

well if its not one thing its another...
4wheelparts.com
had 2 of my shocks on backorder, and decided to not ship the two they had,
and they have no idea when they will be in stock,
gotta call again tomorrow, n get things straightened out, 3-5 day shipping is turning into 2 weeks
im not a happy camper

We want pics of the a$$ chewing :D

Lol
Well i talked to 4wheelparts.com today and I'm supposed to have all my shocks by friday, so we will see.

That sucks man! So 3-5 day shipping means almost 2 weeks

Yep basically,
i got 2 of my shocks today they came from california.
the other 2 are coming from ohio, and supposedly shipped before these two
im in michigan, figure that one out??
the plan is to get them on this weekend then, get plates.
getting close

well i got all of my shocks finally
going to try and get them all on today

Got all my shocks on, the rancho rs5000 series really tightened her up nice. no bounce or sway at all.
Got my rear bumper mounted and bolted up
Got my tie rods, ball joints and U joints greased
Got my electric shift 4x4 motor installed, and its conveniently not working(i need to get a shifter), adding to my mental wish list now.

i have a high idle, like 1500rpm
when i unplug the TPS it drops down to 1100rpm so I'm going to try and replace that.
maybe grab another IAC valve as well
any other ideas other then a vacumn leak, i poked around and didn't see anything off hand.

had the truck titled in my brothers name the last time it was registered and he can't find the title so he's going to the SOS tom to get a duplicate so i can get plates on her here in a few days.

she is almost road ready, just as few little things to get her ready, like installing lockouts, topping off the front n rear diffs with gear oil, oil change ect.

Well I got her plated and insured.
She handled good on the highway considering 5.5" lift and no sway bars, yet..
I also got her mostly rattle canned flat black
She looks a lot better flat black then red.

What have you done as far as sway bars?? I have one or both of the stock b2 ones,
Also I set my toe in to 1/4"- 3/16 is that too much? Some one said I need around 1/16th??

Toe should be as close to 1/8th as possible. If its a 1/4, I'd get it tighter...

Ok I will adjust it a little bit more..
But I definitely need sway bars, is there anything that would be close to bolt on
I believe I have the original rear sway bar, that's a bolt on.
But idk what to do about the front
It's definitely not safe above 55mph it tracks down the road great but as soon as you give her a little wheel left or right she rolls hard in the front.
I definitely need to space the coil buckets further from the frame, I know that will help a lil bit, but I'm still going to need a front sway bar if she's ever going to see highway speeds

Run the stock swaybar up front, run a couple shock tabs on the axle where the links would fall, and roll with it...
