Full size axel swap 78 d44 and 9" SAS in 86 B2

well I've been driving her daily and for the most part she's been doing great
ive had to replace the throttle position sensor, and i swapped a couple iac valves around,
i think i could still use a new one sometimes my idle is a little funny.

today i went out to fire her up and she wouldn't start, she turned over had fuel had spark had power to Ecm ended up being a bad Crank position sensor
35$ and she was running like a top,
i also ventured out for my first long haul and tow.
i had to tow my brothers friends mercury mountaineer 5.0 v8 awd home, it broke down about 45 minutes out of town so i loaded up the tow dolly and set sail

She actually handled better then i expected under a load, almost as if the load helped to smooth out the ride a little bit,
she made it back home in one piece without any issues

only one little problem I've noticed that i can't pinpoint
everyonce in a random while ill get a anti energy surge, where it feels almost like there is no power, whether it be spark or fuel for .5 seconds(a blink of an eye) then it kicks back in like nothing hanppend but its enough to give a little jolt, and make you say something aint right, i had a similar problem once with a lose ground at the PCM but everything is nice and tight.
if anyone has and any similar problems id love to hear your ideeers.
promise il get pictures soon, once i get my lockouts in I'm going to get some flex shots as well, see if i can't get my boss to pick up a wheel with the trac loader

btw whats up with ORTOTM? i see there wasn't a weiner chosen for october?

I hope you didn't use a tow dolly on an all wheel drive vehicle without at least pulling a driveshaft...

theres not enough interest for truck of the month. if you like it promote it.

i would suspect some sort of electrical fault with your description as well.

of course the drive shaft was pulled.
got a nice dusting of snow here in GR MI
she handled great on the ice.
Got a bad battery terminal i need to fix.
busy working not much time for anything else

Beeen getting some really heavy snow in SW michigan this last week, the B2
has been taking a beating and coming out on top every time.
i wish i could get my shift on the fly to work,
does anyone have tips on trouble shooting the system on a 89 B2?? I've checked the fuse in the cab its good
i wanted to buy a shifter but i heard they quit making them, any other cheap electric to manual conversions out there?

Swap out the entire t-case for a manual case.

yeah but thats time and money, not to mention manual tcases are hard to find around me, but i got my electric shift system working, i traced it down to a couple blown fuses and a lose ground.
now i just have to get a couple replacement bolts to mount the electric shift motor to the tcase, as i lost mine.
shift on the fly is really nice, when it works.
going to reweld y shock mount in the rear, my temporary tac welds broke the other day.
now i need to find a way to lift the rear another 2 inches ??
I'm thinking add a leaf, i got stock f150 leafs, any one have a brand recommendation?

If you can't find the bolts I've got them just pay shipping.

I bought a set of 2" AAL's from summit like 5 years ago. Idk the brand any more but they've held up real well.

heres how she's sitting as of today..
4x4 electric shift motor is installed and working great.
beefed up and gusseted my trac bar mount on the frame, it tightened up my steering quite a bit.
idk if i said this yet but i gave her a murked out flat boat rattle can job, which isn't finished yet, still gotta paint my visor and roof.

got a wheel bearing problem on the drivers side, i can't get my outer snap ring that secures my lockout to go into place, gotta tear it apart and check it out, i got the hubs and rotor off a truck at the pick a part yard, they were like brand new, but you can never be too sure.

i wired up the lights on my visor so they turn on with my running lights

now i just gotta get a radio, do some body work, and get her stuck.. oh and figure out my upper coil buckets for a more correct spring angle, and hopefully a more comfortable ride.
other then that she's going strong
oh and i need a 2"addAleaf still (you see why)
heres some pics (not the best but)

beefed up trac bar mount by welding a triangular gusset in the front between frame rail and mount, and the welded a piece of angle iron, along the frame rail and down to the mount.
don't mind my chicken shit welds, it was raining and i was in a damn hurry, trying not to get a wet ass.
till next time

so the B2 got a new to me 4.0 out of a 93 ranger the other day.
my 90 4.0l had a bad exhaust manifold leak at the head, and then it sprouted a little head gasket leak, and was burning oil, and was running like Crap, it barely got me home from work one day, as it was starting to over heat and didn't have enough power to make it through a green light before it turned red.

dropped the new motor in and its amazing the power i had been missing.
drives like a brand new truck, i can do 85mph on the highway with ease
Now i know my motor will last until i can find a 4bt

Nice progress....
