Unfortunately there is always going to be someone out there that feels the need to state their opinion in a very obtuse way. I've learned to control my temper over the years and only let certain things get under my skin. It has worked very well and I have lived a better life. Only difference now is when I get good and pissed off shit gets destroyed or catches on fire.

If he lived in my state, the original poster's problems are just beginning. He finally gets his v8 swap done, pat's himself on the back, and then he has to go and get an inspection sticker. Inspector lifts the hood, see's all that custom stuff and v8 engine in there, says nope and puts a big red sticker on the windshield. And then charges you $15.

So then you formulate plan B. You go spend a bunch of money to get antique plates. No inspection required. Then you find out you can only drive it to the mechanics shop, and car shows.

Some of you guys don't know how good you have it.

Pretty sure its the same in Maryland...

In northwest Ohio there are no inspections of any type, no windshield stickers, no emmissions testing, nothing.

Georgia is the same way with no inspections but Massachusetts is one where all are inspected for safety, any thing new than 15 years has emissions testing and Antques have a limited number of milage able to be legally driven a year.

I so preferred living in Georgia over Ma. In this respect.

Antique plates are cheaper than regular plates in maine, no inspection required, no mileage limits. Pretty grateful for that. Only stipulations are it has to be "original" and it can't be your only car.

Most cops don't care if it's stock, or a hot rod, just as long as it looks safe and your not driving like a 17 year old. It is still a risk though.. Being in violation is a 400$ fine and no antique plates for you for 10 years.
