CITY DOES NOT LIKE MY RANGER

Im not sure who I pissed off. I had a stroke and doing stuff is hard. I havent drove my ranger for about 1-1 1/2 years. I had started getting parts together to swap to a 302/c4, then had the stroke. The city cop came by and gave me a paper saying I was in violation of abandon, inoperable vehicles. Now it does not run but as soon as they see it run and drive they will leave me alone. If I want to pay 25. a month to leave it is okay. I have tires in the back of it but nothing else is wrong with it. I got a sticker for it its had insurance on it the whole time. I hate electric work so Im going to tow it to someone to fix it. I said If I buy a metal garage and keep it in there is that ok. It would be fine but not now because we started this. Anyone every heard of this kind of bullshit... The city has a hard on for me.
tell the cop theyre a fascist pig and to go eat doughnuts. theyre attempting to auction your vehicle to line their piggy pockets

Well I paid the city to let me keep my ranger for 90 days. I am going to start tomorrow removing the 2.3 Hopefully the weather will warm up so I can paint the engine compartment. Its snowing the temp has dropped to 10. It going to rain in a couple of days so? Just have to wait a bit. lol weather changes faster and more often than my wifes mind...
Good luck with it Scrapper. Come March we should start seeing some better weather

That sucks you have to pay. Keep us updated on the progress.

It was very nice of the city to let you pay them to keep something you own.

Our township went on a towing frenzy lately (per law they can only tow if it has no plates, current registration or inspection) but they left it up to the towing companies to decide, and they decided to just tow anything that looked "crappy". Lots of people had to call and complain (my friend was one of them). He got his jeep back and didnt have to pay but I'm sure some people weren't so lucky.

We don't have any rules like that. One of my neighbors has had a Hyundai slowly settling into his lawn for 3-4 years and last year parked his Jeep beside it and bought another car. I occasionally will have a vehicle sitting outside until the project gets started or I strip it out but I don't just let them rot into the ground. Either way it's not the neighbors' business. You have my sympathy.

Yeah, because shooting your mouth off to the people who enforce the rules has never caused anyone any problems ever.

I don't like the rule either, but I'm 100% sure that is not the way to go about dealing with it.

I disagree... I'd pay money to watch him say that to a cop.

Well yeah, but it won't not get the truck towed.

Unless we raised enough money from the ticket sales to pay the fee.

It sucks when you have to pay blackmail to an entity that is supposed to be there for your benefit.
Most towns have ordinances about inoperable and uninspected uninsured vehicles on your property. Where I live it's okay if they're covered and off the street.

So... if you put up said metal building, stash the truck inside it and close the door... I'm just not sure how that does not solve the problem. Unless they came onto your property and opened the door, they would have to assume that it's gone, right? As far as they're concerned it's not even there anymore. It's none of their business what you keep inside your property and out of sight.

Rapid City has an ordinance for vehicles with no plates, expired plates, obviously inoperable, etc...sometimes they get after people for parking on the grass in their yard too. Nit picky stuff that is selectively, and rarely, enforced. I live just outside city limits and will probably get annexed eventually, and I have several vehicles that don't have plates on them. If I get annexed into their little commune, you can bet the No Trespassing signs are going up... what are they gonna do? Send a tow truck driver over to open my gate and remove things from my property? That'll be fun for them.

I'm fine with keeping my place looking decent, I appreciate when my neighbors do that for me as well, there is a point where people need to be left alone though.

We can all just speak the truth about what we believe about men who do violence on the behalf of rich folks. The truth be told...they are just a strong arm for rich people.
