cheap ways to get horsepower

i really don't know what to look for in a carb? what fits it. its a stock 2.0.

I'm not really sure what it may have on it already, I'm guessing a single barrel, though. If you can chase it down to the CFM the carb you have flows, bumping it up to the next higher CFM in the same series and jetting it properly may help.

Horsepower is rarely cheap to increase, but nothing says you have to build it all at once. It may take a while, but buying a part here and there may be another option for you.

update i put some seafoam in it and it helped alot i have way more power...i can do 65 and over now with no trouble:yahoo:......i think my exhaust was a little plugged up to. i was driving i noticed i didn't have as much power as i normally have i thought it was just colder than normal and it was whistling i was thinking it was my window i was wrong as i'm going up a hill the whistle gets really loud and then i hear (shumf)i gained instant power i'm like what the hell.so i call my dad he said that my muffler is rotting on the inside he said thats why i had such a bad power loss.........but not any more mahahaha:icon_hornsup: thank's for all the help guys :icon_thumby:

cheap power

i got a 1986 ranger. i ported the head (free, head gasket kit $37), put a 1993 ford ranger stock roller cam in it(junkyard $10), a 1997 ford ranger stock header(junkyard $12), 2 1/4 inch exhaust to a cherry bomb and a side exit no cat(free after i scraped my cat), autozone cone filter($20), and my getup-n-go improved a ton and gas milage went from 21-22mpg to 26-27mpg. i ain't no rocket scientist but more air in more air out adds hp and better efficiency. cheap easy improvements to do to the 2.3

i also found a weber 32/36dgev carb for 230 bucks any info on it?

I have no experience with Weber carbs, but it looks like there are several places that specialize in them using a google search. I found one called redline weber that has online blow up diagrams of them. Looks simple, and I know a lot of the high performance guys swear by them. For $230, I would think you may be looking at needing to rebuild it before using it, since a new/rebuilt one seems to run closer to $350 to $400. At any rate, even if you don't like it, I would think you would have no trouble getting your money out of it selling it.
