Cheap ways to improve performance?

Are you kidding? I've been working a stick since I was 13 years old. And my first time behind 3 pedals was 15! haha

Seriously though, if the goal is cheap performance a 5.0L swap is not the answer. My 302 swap was anything but cheap!

I was implying a joke if you didn't notice. Men see a girl, let alone a 5'1 100lb redhead driving a stick drifting icey corners, they're shocked.

I too was joking.... See, at 13 I was implying a different aquired skill than when I was 15.

The cheapest but not necessarily the easiest way to gain better mileage, improve horsepower to weight ratio, and get better handling is to lose weight on [off] the truck. And sometimes the owner.

Hahahaha! :icon_rofl:

My BII got 29mpg highway from NC to CO this summer! I have the K&N mod on the throttle body and I opened up my exhaust with a thrush welded muffler. Also I am a religious user of seafoam! It kicks soo much ass. I use a third of a can in my oil and the rest in the gas tank about twice a year.

Kerpow. Another spammer bites the dust....

man, and people wonder why I LOVE my 2.3L 2wd 93. Lilly get 25mpg IN TOWN! 30 on the highway. Parks highway, Alaska is 367 miles from Fairbanks to Anchorage, I get 355 miles on ONE tank (15gallon). Plus it's a manual. I HATE automatics now that I have a stick. Plus, Girls now how to drive a stick better. ;-)

You can jump here and try shifting my stick any time... That is, if you think you can handle an 18spd...... Lemme know when your ready for a double stick.......

Well I way 135 pounds because im a boxer and thats my weight class so i cant cut weight off the owner but i was thinking about off the truck, how would you recommend losing extra weight

Is this a dd? How do you use the truck? If it is a race truck or off road only you can lose about 60lbs a side by gutting the doors. Lose the box except for the sides and lose about 150 lbs. Remove all rugs and extra crap from inside the cab.
But if it's a dd then it's not so easy. Keeping it clean and not carrying tools helps.

Get rid of everything you don't need that doesn't contribute to the aerodynamic properties of the truck. Spare tire, passenger seat, dash, seat belts, carpet, bed, fuel tank, transmission.

Saw it recommended to shorten the drives haft once, but that's just ridiculous since the drive shaft is hollow and hardly weighs anything.

The doors can go as well once it warms up, but they contribute greatly to smooth airflow around the truck, so you have to saran-wrap the openings.

Don't forget fluids. Gasoline weighs a lot. Maybe keep your tank 1/4 full or less. Use 3 quarts of motor oil instead of 5. If you're really ambitious drill holes all over your frame. A swiss cheese frame will weigh considerably less than a solid frame. Plus the holy frame will flex like crazy off road.

now fellas..............& gals.....................you know as well as I do that you've got to reduce the truck weight by 100 lbs. to gain one usable h.p.

and you gotta reduce it by 300lbs. to gain 1 mpg....

now.....if you shorten the driveshaft by 1 foot....you'll probably lose 100 lbs/gain 20 usable h.p./make it a lot easier to park....

OR....you can double the gain by shortening the driveshaft by 2 foots....

OR...
