good question
Wasn’t sure were to post this if it’s in the wrong place let me know but anyways I got a Cb radio off a guy for free and I’m trying to figure out were to mount it in a 1994 ford ranger as well as I think the mic is broke but won’t know till I hook it up, when I pressed the mic button it was like stuck so I did the dumb thing and pressed it harder so it sounded like somthing broke inside it. well now the dang thing has a plastic rattle inside the mic? Probably just buy a new mic oh well anyways were you guys mount them?

Underneath the 8-track tape player?

Might be worth a shot to open up the mic and see if you can fix what broke. And opening it up may let you operate the mic's push-to-talk switch to see if the unit works.

I’m gonna try and open the mic up later

Almost same location in my 93. Not sure it will stay there once my manual transfer case shifter is installed. But moving it over toward passenger side fixes that.

My GMRS radio has all tje controls in the mic. So I mounted the radio between the seat and center console with a remote speaker hanging from the roof where it is easier to hear.

I'll invoke @sgtsandman here, since he has multiple communication radios in his 2011(?).

Radio is out. But you see where the bracket is.

Here is the remote speaker just forward of where the dome light was.

Mics are pretty easy to fix, not much going on in there. A little epoxy/super glue should get you back in business. If the switch is seized, that'll be pretty easy to replace too. Good luck!
