:icon_confused:Has anyone used a non-PATS ECM (i.e. 97 Taurus) with a 98-99 Ranger 3.0?

I have a spare motor and 5speed that I'd like to install in an old MGB roadster I have.

I've got the engine and trans mounted in the car, and now need to figure out wiring... I've got the engine wiring harness of the Ranger motor, and would like to use an ECM that doesn't require a "smart key", that's why I was wondering how to get a 97 Taurus ECM to work, as they are didn't use "smart keys"

Would appreciate any help identifying if it can be done, and what it takes to get it to work.

You will run into issues with the rev limiter using that computer. Either way a tuner would be needed to delete something, either the rev limiter, or the PATS, so it doesn't matter much.

ADSM is right. You're going to have to reprogram something either way. Either you reprogram the Ranger computer to eliminate PATS, or you reprogram the Taurus computer to eliminate the all of the auto trans stuff.
