I'm installing my crank positioning sensor and do not have the special tool from Ford. I was wondering what else I could use to make sure that I am at TDC. So that my timing is correct I am in need of this help ASAP please if anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it. Im losing work while my ranger sits in the garge.

For an 02 with a 2.3L you don't need any special tool. The sensor is just a magnet with some wire wrapped around that reads a vane on the cam gear. It's pop in and out, engine position doesn't matter because the sensor itself isn't attached to anything that moves.

+1 ^^^

2.3l Duratec Cam position sensor just bolts to valve cover, no timing needed like the V6 engines

Same for 2.3l Lima engines, no timing needed
