4.0L SOHC Pulling the SOHC for inspection

I’m gonna drive myself crazy. I can’t find the 4 motor mount nuts. I should have 8 bc I took two engines out; I have 1, and 2 are on the other ranger holding down the block so I could use those but where the heck are the other 5!?!

I picked up some 12x1.75 and 14x2.0 nuts and those don’t fit…

I have the same problem every time I do a major project. When I inevitably end up at the junkyard, I take all the hardware I can get.

So I knew this was crazy. I put all the bolts and parts I could in ziplock bags and labeled them. Turns out I put a bunch of those in a tote on top of the cab of the ranger… so it’s back to work today

I tried for nearly 5 hrs to get the motor back in, the dang spacer plate kept falling out, and I couldn’t get the engine/trans lined up. I decided to stop before I got stupid and did something dumb. lol I’ll try again tomorrow.

Ah now that’s a good idea! I was looking for tape to tape it down and I could pull most of off after mating them up but electrical tape wouldn’t hold and neither would athletic tape and this was that he one time I couldn’t find any painters tape… lol.

I did almost have them together today. just couldn’t quite get em there.
