Blackwidow reborn

I'm following... really curious how well that EFI works out.

Interior is finally finished. Auto meter gauges all wired up and mounted. And the handheld for the aces kill shot is mounted.

Body work on the bed has started. I knew it had some bubbling on the back corners. I wasn’t expecting rust holes filled with bondo. Oh well

New metal welded in. And a layer of short strand fiberglass has been applied. Time for lots of sanding.

Body work good enough for primer.

Installed the tailgate. I have a mint one that doesn’t have the panel, that I’m saving for when the truck gets painted.

funny story. This back bumper is off my very first Ranger. Many of you know it as “the blackwidow” I met up with its current owner 2 years ago and he gave me the bumper off it. So I saved it for this girl. Let me tell you. It feels right having a piece of my first truck back.

I won’t lie. This truck is kicking my ass. Today I fought the clutch line. It has that stupid horse shoe cup that retains the line. Well. That Gave out. And I was not dropping this trans again. So I made pole barn garage proud and fixed it with wire and hose clamps.

So updates….

I finally got the truck titled and tagged. I have to say. Getting a bonded title for this truck was more work than I was prepared for. But the truck is road legal.

@Uncle Gump you asked about the aces efi setup. I love it. There’s a couple quirks about it, that could be unsettling for some. My biggest thing is, the handheld says the engine runs about 220 degrees. My mechanical gauge and temp gun both read 170. So aces needs to address that issue. That aside. The truck runs amazing. Gets decent mileage. And always starts right up.

I’ve put probably 5-600 miles on it. And so far the only issues I’ve had is a ruptured oil line. So I’m waiting on hoses and fittings to redo them. That aside. No issues to report.

here’s a full body shot. And an overall of the interior.

So it’s been a few weeks. I’ll update how the truck had been doing

the aces efi system started going haywire. Wouldn’t start. Ran stupid rich. Had a bad bog. I tried tuning it myself. Couldn’t get it. Spoke to an actual tuner. Couldn’t get it either. Tried customer support. Still not right. I had enough and took it off and went back to a carb. Truck runs perfect now.

the intake gaskets started leaking air. So I decided to get a new weiand intake manifold. And new gaskets. Added a 650 double pumper. Truck runs the best it ever has.

been using the truck on and off for a few weeks. I’ve made a list of things I want to improve on. I will start working on those things in the upcoming weeks.

Well that's a bummer...

I like the thought of TBI. Newer technology... old school look.

Glad ya have it together and getting a chance to drive it.

ive tried the Holley sniper. Fitech. And now the aces kill shot. None of them have worked for me. Now I can say I’m sure some of it is used error. But I firmly believe that the whole “self learning” is a bunch of horse crap.
