Are parking break assemblies interchangable?

I have a 1992 2.3L L4 manual ranger, its my first manual vehicle and i figured what better to learn on than the (almost) invincible ford ranger?
Its got a couple issues, but nothing major- right now im trying to replace the parking break assembly because its too rusted and weak/bent to release regularly (its real easy to pull, it just needs some serious wiggling and maybe 20 tries) so i want to replace it. I went to pick n pull recently to look at some rangers from 83-92 and see if any of their assemblies are there/work well. All of them were either just as jank or missing, though i found a couple 93's that worked very smoothly. I was wondering if the holes and break line would actually match up with my 92? Also, just if that assembly could be possibly interchangable with any other ford vehicles? I dont want to have to pay too much money on it if i dont have to, so id like to exhaust the pick n pull idea first before messing with buying new parts.
Thank you for any help, and if all else fails ill just buy a refurbished one most likely.

That's a tough one to answer. I just had to replace the one on my 2004 because it didn't have one when I bought it. I found that, although the bodies are similar, the bolt patterns were different. Take a picture of what you have, then look around for a match.

Hmm ok, do you have any clue as to generally what vehicles can switch interior parts with a 92? Just rangers, or are any F series and broncos (of the 83-92 years ish) sometimes something worth looking at do you think?

92 is still the old body style interior? i would check the f series and e series trucks and vans

LMC Truck lists quite a number of parts in that area as being identical between Bronco II and Ranger all 1st and 2nd gen models (83-92). Without a part number for the whole assembly I can't do the number dummy trick and look up the interchange, but I would bet Bronco 2 and Ranger are gonna be your money. I would also counter that these are repairable steel assemblies not junk chinesium plastic.. from looking at yours and the yard can you figure out if you can tighten it up by just replacing a worn pin or bolt / bending a tab back to straight etc - repair and rebuild as opposed to replace.

Very good pointers, though the whole assembly is orange and flaking with rust... maybe its salvagable in there so i might try and repair it but im not certain its got enough metal left to be usable afterwards anyways. Ill give it a closer look and compare to one i took pictures of at the junkyard
