Aces Killshot Fusion EFI Swap

You. Bought an integrated ecm.

I went back and forth on that hard. Holley has it integrated too and is pretty much the go-to in the industry. The II version seems to handle the RFI from a front mounted distributor fine and ACES has their ECM mounted on the side which should help too.

Having the ECM in the TB puts it in the middle so everything flows to the middle of the engine bay.

Also for heating, they have the fuel return running behind it which I think would drastically help with keeping it cool.

For a issue on the road... I kinda think throwing the Edelbrock and a $70 HEI dizzy in a case would be about as good as anything.

So is possible heating of the ECM (which with the fuel flow may or may not run cooler than the remote one anyway) more likely to cause an issue than 3x the wiring snaked all over the engine bay?

I dunno, I kind of ended up looking at like HEI vs Duraspark. Both systems are great but one has a lot more wiring to get damaged or compromised and one has pretty much everything important sealed and mounted high up on the engine. :dntknw:

You voluntarily installed the fuel filter where you would have to crawl under the vehicle to service it?

You are supposed to service them? :icon_twisted:

Yes. Every time you're having performance issues and come on the forum asking what to do. When we reply "How is your fuel pressure and when did you last change filter?"

You mean the little metal can that's peeing gas out of a rust hole needs to be changed???

The plastic ones dont rust. When they quit flowing just flip them around and they rejuvenate. :icon_thumby:

what wires?

the processor to throttle body wiring wouldnt have to look any different then a fuel line.

but...for sure a terminator stealth is a ridiculous amount of money.

today, if that is what i wanted...the carb look and ability to drop a carb and points dizzy in place if it did burn up for some reason....it is the system i would prefer.

fi tech dropped the ball. i have seen cooked ecm issues too many times now with big blocks. small block in low power or mild applications are doing pretty good, but if you do burn one you can not just carry the tune over to the new style ecu.

they have a new style ecu for a reason.

i suspect they got this shit worked out now...and you will most likely be just fine. but too much of my free time trying to help others has me edgy.

worse... carbs bring more phone calls with hot weather drivability issues.

put it this way. i suspect the aces is best value.

and a better unit then the fitech.

i also suspect they helped solve the fitech issues.

hopefully after two hot summers you have nothing but glowing reviews.

if you get 5 seasons....then that is a lotto win.

I actually got caught in that thought last night as I was routing wires. If I had the ECM on the fender this would all just be one big harness going to the TB.

Except I would still have to route the ECT, Wideband, coil driver, distributor harness. and efan wiring from wherever they are to said fender as well. Which is kind of funny because they are all within like 18" or less away from the throttle body. So there would be a second harness going to the ECM. I am not scared of wiring but just the less there is the less there is to mess up down the road... maybe

So yeah, I am not totally sold on it but if the simplified wiring makes life easier for the ECM maybe it will help longevity as well.
