Okay guys, I have been tinkering around on my 4X4 trying to figure out what it will take to fix it. The CM self diagnosed itself OK, but any time I touch the button on the dash I don't hear anything from the transfer case or shift motor. Is it possible that it's just the shift motor? And not a wiring issue? I tried taking the shift motor off and found all the bolts for it to take it loose but when I tried pulling it out I couldn't budge it. Is there something I'm missing or don't know? Thanks y'all :icon_confused:

How many bolts did you find?

Very nice resource page on the top banner, "tech articles"

Good how-to in there on the electric shift motor:

Common issue with these are lack of use, the brushes that power the motor just sit for months and months, and when you do go to use 4WD the brushes are not making good contact in the motor so nothing happens when you select 4WD.
A couple of taps with a hammer or...??, on the motor case will usually get it working again, but it would mean time for a rebuild or replace.

should be 3 or 4 bolts 10mm that hold it onto the tcase. once there all loose you can take a small prybar and wedge it under it and pop it off.
