93 Splash in SC, V8-Swap version

Doing pretty well. I feel like I need to push some walking. I took ot easy over the weekend. It's time to try building up some stamina. I just took the trash out - 2 trips since I cleaned a bunch of old stuff out of the refrigetator. Take a lottle break. Load the dishwasher and start it. Take another break. Take a walk up the street a few hundred feet and back. I'm finally going to kneel down on the floor and open the box of exhaust manifolds that arrived while I was in the hospital. When I came home, I asked Kyle to just drag them into the living room for me.

My blood pressure is low due to a few of the meds. 88/54 this morning. But Dr. Said as long as I don't feel dizzy, it's ok. My heart rate and blood O2 levels are ok. I'm checkung and logging all that stuff, plus weight every day.

Plot twist, they are 4.0 manifolds...

Nope. Not unless the 4.0l became an 8 cylinder. I got that pair of 289 manifolds I posted from ebay.

Did something useful today. Using the 93 Ranger EVTM, 96Explorer EVTM and manual for my new digital instrument cluster, I figured out how the wiring is going to combine to make the digital dash work. I even stripped the needed wires out of the Explorer dash so they're ready. I plan on re-purposing one or more of the Explorer bulkhead connectors to pass through the firewall. I'll strip out a lot of the excess and re-arrange what I need. But here is the written plan for combining the old, old and new wiring. I wish I could access transmission gear selection from the PCM. It would be nice to have that show up in the digital dash.

If you go forward you are in drive.

If you go backwards you are in reverse

If you don't move you:

A. are stuck
B. are in neutral
C. experiencing catastrophic transmission failure

Survived my first cardiac rehab session this morning. Did more than I thought I could or should. Didn't feel like I maxed out my capability. Actually feel pretty good. Think I'll work on the Ranger project today. My motivation is back.

Edit: just looked at the junk yard site. Looks like a good steering column with shifter and cruise buttons. I think I could remove that. It's a 93.

Are you completly doing away with the OE style dash or would the shift indicator in that one do you any good too?

They don't install one for manuals. I have an idea for installing one. I somehow found one from a 93 Ranger in my pocket when I got home from the junk yard a few minutes ago.

My plan is to remove the original instrument cluster. Then 3d Print a flat panel to go in its place. That flat panel will have a cutout and mounting tabs for my Holley touch screen display and other things like the OBDII test port, front mounted usb access for the touch screen, maybe the transmission indicator, and, if needed, the 4-hi and 4-lo indicators if I can't figure out how to display those on Holley. The Holley screen seems to have a lot of configuration flexibility. But, until I power it up and start playing, I don't know 100% what I can or can't do with it. If you look at my chart up above, you'll see that I figured out how to electrically connect things like CEL, turn signals, etc. I just don't know how I configure it to display those things.

You have one in that cluster that currently answers to the column you want if you could salvage that bit...

Not sure I'm following you there.

My Ranger cluster currently looks like this.

From what appeared to be a pretty sweet 93, 4.0l truck. Don't know why its in the junk yard. Entirely repairable, though not mint.

Got all this for $95. Complete column with all hardware, plus I remembered to get the transmission shift cable. Didn't realize it was so different from the way newer models connect and use the cable.

Looks like they never touched the cruise buttons

You just did what I suggested lol

Another gentleman and his daughter came and got the tonneau cover while I was there. It was in awesome shape. The gas struts were smooth and held it up. I invited them to check out TRS.
