87 single cab SAS build

So its looking like I might be able make this cooling issue go away and still use a mechanical fan.....I'm just getting real tired of everything I try and make turns out looking like crap compared to the stuff I see on here.....:annoyed: maybe one day I'll be able to fab with the best lol

update, Josh picked up my old radius arms off D.

He had a lil hickup with his daily, but will back on this soon.

Thanks for the post josh and my back still hurts from the road trip ha ha sorry been a bit busy lost my clutch in my dd set a new personal best for a clutch swap 5hrs lol but I still haven't forgot bout my build I made my fan shroud moved up my radiator cut out the core support for the cap and found out my lower inlet on the rad hits my belt so I'm dealing with that right now I'll be back to work on it again soon:DD

once you get it running, you really need to put the chrome grille on it. please don't do that ugly ass color matched shit

Ha ha ha I have the original grille I just been working on the cooling system so much I just left it out and yes it looks like ass right now ha ha I'd actually like to try and find a billet style grille for it but if this fan shroud doesn't work out I'm gonna just whack out a hole for a fan with the most cfm I can find that'll fit gettin tired of this overheatin shit:annoyed:

So got my radiator back from the fab shop I used to work at and it cost me a whole 20$ to have the lower inlet cut off and rewelded at a 90 off the front of it so now we have clearance clarance and hope to get this turd moving under its own power again I'll keep ya posted I do need to cut out more shroud for the fan to fit and clear so with any luck I'll have it goin again soon:headbang:

Ok so after more cutting and welding the shroud was ready to drop in only it wasn't that easy was a huge ptia to get the radiator and the shroud in together but I did I only wish I had painted it I wanted to see if it fit before I painted it but turned out to b alot of trouble just to get it in there so that will b another day so got it in and everything fired it up and it ended up still overheating:mad::damnit1:
So I'll try a different thermostat maybe it'll help idk Im Throwin hail Mary's here will any luck it'll help. seems if I didn't have bad luck if have none at all. if that don't work I'm grabbing the sawzall and makin me a electric fan hole!!!:annoyed: i swear I don't even know people with good sh*tt.....

did you check to see if the cooling system is holding pressure

I did not but I ran it awhile with out a cap on the radiator too get air pockets out I'll monkey with it when I get off werk

where are you located?

this is one of those preference things for the most part...cooling has a gigantic amount of variance available to it.

i have used many types of systems over the years, which is why i prefer an electric fan system myself..

the efficiency is unmatched in this application and reliability is par with anything. but many prefer mechanical cooling. with lower power applications its a toss.

Akron area of Ohio at this point I just want something that works lol u got any ideas?? And idk how u even fit ur fans in there I can't even fit a 2in fan spacer by itself between my rad and fan pully :\

thats why i asked location....i was just there when i was bringing the banner back from key west...

i was hoping you were in toledo or something.

well. all i will do is open the core up so you have airflow and room to work with.

i have no idea why people try to work in the factory bullshit space if using the old style fead..... but they do. i can see trying with the explorer style fead...still should have more airflow with the gen one core.

you cant do dumb shit like that with big blocks, but can get away with it with the lower power small blocks.

getting away with something and thinking its right... is to me at least.. wrong.....

getting away with something and knowing you are, i find acceptable. even emulating the stock explorer setup you have to add airflow, and they dealt with the fan with the shorty system. the funny thing is, if they kept building the windsor 5.0 base engines 3 more years, it would have been all electric cooling etc with the explorer. that would have worked out great for all of us.

so look at what ya got and see what it will take to go forward 2-3 inches.

Dam....but heres what I'm working with pics aren't the best but my phone isn't either I guess I could out the lower part of core support and move it out some this is the first time I have ever had a v8 ranger so its all relatively new to me. Reading just a little bit bout ur rig and what you have done its obvious you far surpass me also because I haven't really done this before not quite sure what the right way is I'm doin what looks best.

Goin with a bigger radiator.....

bigger is always welcome when working in this particular size of a space limit.

but your looking to be far enough forward as far as relocation goes, from the pics you did a great job with it really...the shroud is great, though a bit tight for off road abuse.

i think your engine position is hogging up an inch and a half or so that you could go down a bit and back some...just on these pics.

without seeing it in person there are no definitive judgements with what i am looking at here.

from there, a swap out to a sn95 fead or explorer fead will net some space for sure.

if i wanted a mechanical fan, that is the route i would go. full explorer fead and fan. any other setup is a waste of time really.
