I see in the tech library, an article about running Skyjacker's 6" lift coils on 4" drop brackets on a supercab (because the coils are softer than other brands and the extra weight of the supercab sags them a bit).

This brings me to a question that i dont recall seeing an answer for lately: Can 8" Skyjacker TTB coils be run with their brackets and the pivot bolt in the 6" hole?

I want to run this setup if possible....and FYI i have an extra 250lbs hanging off the front end in addition to my truck being a 4.0L supercab.

yeah you can do it....just won't be able to use coil spacers is all....

I'm running 6" skyjacker springs in the 4" hole (VMS lift brackets) with a 1" spacer under each coil. I'm sitting at about 5" of suspension lift. (winch/tube bumper)

You will need the Skyjacker extreem drop pitman arm at a minimum. Even then, not sure if the steering will be near ideal.

Got it already :icon_thumby:

Right now my steering linkage sits a hair above completely level. Steering is a dream with 5.5" of lift.

That's what my friend's truck has. We modded a Super steering kit to work on it.

It's certainly not quite ideal, but it's not so bad that it's really noticeable. Forget about using early Bronco coils at that height though (unless you can figure out a good sturdy way to get the steering down yet another 2-3").

Yeah with the 8" SJ coil I approx. that the truck will sit about 1.5"-2" taller than it is now, which will kill my tie rod angles. I wonder if I could basically make my own superrunner setup like Superlift's, but to work with a SJ FA600 so the tie rod angles are just about flat.

Order the tierods and ends from super lift, and fab an idler arm out of something like a leaf spring bushing or swing out tire carrier bushing and then a "k-Link" for in between the pitman arm and idler arm. hmmm.....gears are turning....

I'd keep it for a standard drop arm and just make the centerlink come down lower. Don't skimp on that idler arm though (hacking something together out of tire carrier trash is just asking for trouble  ). That thing's gonna have a lot of leverage on it, so it needs to be sturdy.

Probably a good idea to stay with the standard drop arm. I cant imagine what kind of stress a FA600, 33" tires and a thrown together FUBAR superrunner kit would have on my poor frame rails.

What about spring rate? Do you think the SJ 8" are the same spring rate as their 6" coils? I don't really want to mess with soft Jeep zj coils so I'm wondering how the SJ ones will flex as far as PPI and such.

The only reason I keep my tuff country ones is due to my bumper, winch and larger than stock battery up front, otherwise I'd have swapped those stiff suckers out along time ago.

SJ 6" and 8" coils are the same rate (about 415PPI). Their 4" ones are a bit stiffer (450 or so).

I wouldn't bother with Superlift's tierods either, they aren't all that strong if you plan to be wheeling it (I've bent mine twice now). Get some DOM tube and threaded bungs and make your own tierods. :icon_thumby:

I had heard that Superlift's tie-rods weren't worth mentioning lol.....your statement confirms the fact thanks.

I emailed Tuff Country, about the PPI of their 4" lift coils to compare them with SJ's 6" and 8" coils...hopefully the SJ coils are *softer*. I'm pretty sure they are. If they are the same, or softer than Tuff Country I'll stick with SJ. Otherwise I gotta find a softer coil, my fillings will thank me. Maybe a Jeep ZJ front coil for 5",6", or taller lift. I dunno yet. Seems like a perfect PPI would be right at 300PPI or just over.

Deaver Superflex Bronco/F-150 coils.

Hmmm. I'll probably just stay with TTB coils of some sorts...even tho the idea of running softer coils is really intriguing (and cool lookin too...but who would do something just cuz it looks cool :icon_twisted:). I just don't want to have to deal too much with the steering issues that ensue with softer coils.

I would imagine SJ coils are softer than Tuff Countr's PPI wise.

Duff 5.5" EB coils are 310lbs/in. That's what I'll be running when the SAS gets started.

I see those on their site for $170...not bad unless thats for only one lol. Does anybody know how those would work with SJ 6" bracketry? Depending on the free length maybe they need some washers?

And how do I address how to make them work with Ranger TTB suspension setups? They look like they have a different winding that won't work with the TTB coil perch and retaining nut.

Would these EB 5.5 james duff coils possibly work with my current 4" drop brackets possibly? Right now my coils are 15.5" with the weight of the vehicle on them.
