Okay so I just got the 302 in the truck, and it's already sitting where it used to with the 2.9, and the core support, sheetmetal, and other various things aren't even on yet.

and before the swap, the truck always had a horrendous rake with the fx4 springs in the back, and stock up front.

I'd like to level things out so i can clear 33's (yes i know i'll be doing some fender cutting). And i think with the added weight of the 302, I can get away with 2" lift coils in the front with alignment bushings only. any thoughts?

also, im planning on using 1-1.5" wheel spacers up front for added clearance for the 33's. will that affect ride height (in my mind it seems like they would apply more leverage to the axle beam, no?)

Uhm... don't expect a reply after just two hours, answers take time, sometimes more or less than we really want, but patience is virtue...

You can do 2" lift/level coils (or Explorer coils, they'll do about the same) and be able to get it aligned. If you do the coil spacers or F-150 spring perches AND coils, you'll have to do drop brackets for the axle pivots. And you'll probably want longer radius arms.

I'd go into more detail but I don't have the time, catch me after work.

does anyone know if stock 94 4.0 coils would do anything for him? im gonna be tearing mine out for a set of 4 in skyjackers

so wait, are explorer springs longer? cause im sure i could get a set of them for cheap as dirt...

Should be the same length unless yours is an STX Ranger.

They are slightly longer and IIRC they have a little bit heavier of a compression rate.

But if they've been beat to heck an sagged out you probably will not see much or any gain.

2wd BII coils are longer than 4x4 Ranger and BII coils, but they're lighter in spring rate than Explorer coils.

hmmm i guess i really shouldnt mess with used stuff since sagging is the last thing i need with the 302...

but just out of curiosity, what about f150 springs? how much stiffer and longer are they?
