I just finished the swap
To a 5 speed transmission in my 84 bronco2 and I'm hooking up the line from the master to the transmission but I can't see up there to see how the keeper pin should go in to keep the line in the top of the transmission dose any one have any pictures? Thanks again.

Man that's a tough one, and it has been a while since I was in that situation. I know it isn't easy, and oily hands doesn't make it any easier, but I cannot remember any points to share.
I know one hand has to hold the pressure on it while the other has to all but force it to connect. I only know it's in those connections/connectors somehow, and they have to latch or lock together without acquiring any air bubbles before you'll have a pedal.

Hey man I got it today I used my bore scope to see on top of the bell housing got it clip in thanks man

If I can ask... What Trans are you using?
Going from A4LD, I'm using the FM 145 for a 86 4x4 and finding the Clutch Master to Slave Hydraulic Line has been Impossible.
Figuring out how to install the retainer, which is inside the Bell , is confusing as well, does the Line get installed before the Trans is Mounted?
Someone posted "Just change to the'88 style Slave"... The problem with that is Bore on the '88 bearing is 1.0304 and the Output shaft on a 145 is 1.3906..
They mount differently, and what do you do to solve the shaft size... The 146 output isn't interchange friendly..

Sorry so long but I'm about $3k into this and on the verge of a Junk Yard call...

Thanks

Not sure what you're talking about regarding the bore size - the deal with the slave cylinders is that you CAN swap them... but... you need the correct parts. To use the '88 and up style slave on an FM-145, you need the bellhousing and front bearing retainer from an FM-146 or FM-132. Reason being, the slave cylinder bolts onto the bearing retainer rather than being clamped between the bellhousing and transmission case as is the style you have now.

I've seen someone use an FM-145 bellhousing on a 146 with the newer style slave but it requires hacking a huge hole into the bellhousing for the quick connect fitting to come out of. Needless to say, it is really an ugly way to do it.

If you're not totally committed to the FM-145, it is way easier to use a M5OD or FM-146 because they are the same length as your A4LD............so you don't have to use different driveshafts.

the In put shaft circumference is 1.3906 on a 145 as is the Bore ( hole in the middle of bearing) for the Bearing in the Slave for the shaft to pass thru.. (Dorman CS37748)
Note:"Bore: 1.3906"; 4WD" PartType:Clutch Slave Cylinder1987FordRangerXLT Extended Cab Pickup 2-Door2.9L 177Cu. In. V6 GAS OHV Naturally Aspirated

on a 146 that shaft size is 1.0313 as is the bore of the bearing, where the shaft passes thru... (Dorman CSA37897)...

as you can see, one bearing is larger in it's shaft bore than the other.

so my question is how is this fixed or adapted around or accounted for?

I get the 146 bell and Bearing Retainer, but the 146 is NOT going to fit on the IN PUT Shaft of the 145 Transmission without some Magic...

The Shaft is to BIG thru the Center for the Bearing.... Unless I've missed something, which Is Definitely more than likely...

Hello guys, Rick from TN here. Do either of you have a fill tube and dipstick from an old A4LD for sale?

What part of TN rdn?

I recently did some work on an FM 145 and am familiar with your clutch line issues. The hydraulic line is N/A and you will have to find a used one or make your own. I found these clutch adapters that will fit in the master and slave and allow for a custom flexible hydraulic line to easily screw on the adapters.

The nipple has a ridge on the end that needs ground off but once removed it slides in the port.
