4x4 5.0 swap with pics!

If your going with a dual rate, I'd run a 300/450 rate, single I'd start at about 400 for good offroadability without sacrificing on road handling...

Thanks Rick, you're the man as always! Yeah I'm thinking dual rate, it's my understanding that that would overall allow the coilover to act in the same way as a progressive rate coil.

You are partially correct in your thoughts...It does in a way act like a progressive rate coil, but it actually gives you a soft ride on the road, and when the ride becomes harsher, the soft coil "bottoms out" and the stiffer coil takes over. Both of which have the capability to adjust for preload, and depending on the brand you choose, can also adjust for ride height as well. I'm at the same stage you are, I have the TTB stripped from SVT (as well as the rear axle) and am in the middle of modding the front 60, and will be snatching the rear axle as soon as I hit a junkyard or two..I'm looking at getting a Dana 70 instead of the sterling due to the axleshafts...

more updates!
-D44 is mostly Stripped and almost ready to be cut and extedned.
-Intake manifold for the 5.0 is coming from JEGS and will be here Tuesday.

Project should start moving on along, a buddy and I are finishing up building a shop and the first vehicle going in will be the Ranger:headbang: OHHHH and the Ranger is also taking another huge twist. The cab area is expanding :icon_thumby:

Going extended, or adding a quarter cab :icon_confused:
SVT

Extended:yahoo: I just realized that i need to replace my body bushings...sooo while its off I might as well. Besides, I've always wanted one and i wasn't in love with the long bed.

Made a few calls today and found a yard that'll give me an entire extended cab for less than 3bills. The yard has 3 93+ extended cabs. Supposed to be giving me a call monday with the details and condition of each.

crew cab right??? lol

If you find one for me :D

that would be sweet lol.. i posted that before you posted your "extended cab" response on my screen. nice rig man. i like it.

Thanks man. It used to be at least! Now its turning into multiple piles and boxes of parts. Its almost down to a bare frame! Soon enough though i'll quit taking it apart and put it all together and enjoy my frankenranger

Awesome man the supercab will be sweet!! i just got done doing a super cab swap on a yota, took 9.25" out of the front of the bed and it looks killer with the cab by the wheel well. Deffinately will set you truck off

If you find one for me :D

get a BFH, a welder, and a saw and you can make one. :icon_twisted:

in fact the best way to make one and get around the hinge hassle, is to suicide the back doors so you can cut the front of the door straight, and have custom glass cut from the door glass already in the truck.

Thanks man. The bed hacking will remain unknown until the cab gets mounted. I've never seen a excab swap on a longbed frame so Im not sure. As of right this second I plan on modding the longbed and not going with a shortbed. I still need to do my 64" swap as well so ill probably shorten the wheelbase a little then go from there with the bed.

And Robert, I've got all that:icon_welder: Just a lot of work there for not a lot of gain IMO. The main reason I want an extended cab is so I can position my seat better and lets face it, it looks a ton better! Oh and if I attempted to tackle something epic as a custom cab, this thing may never move again! It's taking too long to complete as it is:annoyed:
