4x4 5.0 swap with pics!

Chris, You might want to look into getting a 95+ e-xab if you can, the heater box does not need to be modded for the 302...

NMB2, Sterling axleshafts can't be narrowed, otherwise I would run it...

Thats the plan, but not because of the heater box(I have my motor placed so there isn't interference)...I want it because the dash is already set up for vacuum heater controls which I need for one of the many projects waiting in the shop that i have in store for you guys :icon_thumby:

:icon_confused: Sooooo.... Is anyone still interested in this build? Well lack of actually lol

Hell yeah Chris...but you need to step it up a notch....I'm already planning for my second V8 swap...this time in the Sport Trac :yahoo:

Hey man! Figured you'd be one of the first to chime in haha.

I've been at a standstill since i decided to go to an ex cab, esp since the cab that was lined up for me fell through. Without the cab I couldn't do the spring swap, mount things on the firewall, mount the cell, bob the bed, or anything else for that matter.

Tomorrow though, I'm make a 5hr round trip and coming home with a running 1997 ex cab. Truck runs and drives but has some issues including a salvage title. It'll be the perfect cab donor. Only downside is I'm trading my wheels and tires for it. Oh well....the 37s looked little with the glass fenders anyway:D

Yes get back on it, been waiting along time lol.

Be sure to find some good dedicated measuring points when cab swapping to know exactly how much bed to remove. add an extra 1/4 inch to the gap to compensate for frame flex so you dont hurt your new cab.

Any pics with the 37s under the glass??

I'll keep that in mind! :icon_thumby:

I'll check to see if I have pics..I'm thinking I didn't take pictures with the glass untill I removed the axle though

And update for the day:
Went and picked the cab donor truck up and well I'm happy and sad at the same time. Supposedly the truck had a bad computer and a salvage title. Turns out the truck has a good rebuild title, missing on one cylinder it seemed, had a aftermarket fender, bondo on the hood and door, and a freakin' brush guard off a cheby:dunno:

Loaded it up and took it home. Played with it for five minutes and figured out that the dummys had a plug wire crossed:icon_rofl: Swapped hood and fender from my truck onto it and now I have a perfectly good truck which runs like a champ. And i only traded wheel and tires for it:headbang:

SOOO being the Ranger enthusiast I am, I'd feel horrible ripping the little fella to shreds just for the cab:sad: I'm taking some pics tomorrrow and going to see if I can't get 2k out of the little guy in the next week or so. Don't think it'll be to hard to get it moved. That'll give me plenty of money to buy another cab if I can locate one and then some.

Any one want a Ranger?:D

Give us the full specs of the ranger, Chris...I doubt I'd be interested, as I'm about to get an 87 4x4 reg cab ranger that I will be working on as well, but for those looking or interested...:icon_thumby:

Yeah thats what i thought too, guy claimed though it came off a chevy though. Kinda looks like the one on envoys and trailblazers. It fits really well, just looks odd as heck....same color as my '94, aka the hood and fender thats on it :D

I wanna rip the cab off of it so bad lol :stop: I'll give it a fair chance at another life though...for atleast a week or two

Well cab swap is underway again.

Turns out the frame or something up front suspension wise on the ex cab is bent. Actually got the truck up to highway speeds today and yeah it does everything but fall apart. I know a ttb bracket and balljoints were replaced but im not sure what else. Seems like they tried fixing the problem to no avail. I'm not going to invest time in either.

Oh, an motor swap is done!!!
