Dropped my keys this morning the hoop for my 2011 Ranger key (PATS) broke. I glued it back together but the plastic being rather brittle wanted to reinforce it somehow. So, I cut a slot around the hook and about 5mm down sides. Slot about 1mm wide and deep. Bent a paper clip to sit in slot and glued it in there. (silver marks are where it broke.)
No idea how long it will last, and I can cut/program my own keys but can't stand to waste a good key for a bit of broken plastic.
