4x4 5.0 swap with pics!

Damn i wish we could get an update on this but he hasnt been on since september, such a shame

Ok Chris, you started your V8 swap before I did rangersvt's V8 swap, SVT has been done and I've done another V8 swap on my DD, an 02 sport Trac, and I'm digging this thread up from 12 feet under...what's the update? :D

I want to see how far this has come, Im going to be doing the exact same swap minus Im going to be using an np208 transfercase.

Hey guys, I'm still kickin'! Sadly the Ranger is sitting here as a bare frame. I took the reg cab off and that's where its sat:sad: I lost motivation last year after things went sour with the 5.0 I had built. Lesson learned: never give someone hard earned parts and request work to be done without anything in writing.

I've finished and sold and started many projects in the mean time. I've been bitten by the boost bug, gotten very good at body work, and have more mechanical knowledge than I could have ever dreamed of. All thanks to the Ranger.

I haven't given up on it though. I WILL FINISH IT. One day. It may be years, but it will be alive again. I've been keeping my eyes open for something along the lines of a totalled mustang cobra. A supercharged v8 although unnecessary, could spark this back to life :icon_idea:

I almost put a Honda motor in it this spring.....:icon_thumby:

Not what I was wanting to hear but glad that it will be finished one day.

Details? I know pics say a thousand words, but I'm falling on deaf ears! Lol

Haha well its getting close to being roadworthy again. Not exactly the way I originally planned but I missed my truck so I used parts I had on hand to just get it back together. Lesson learned: build in baby steps and don't go overboard!
I had it completely stripped to a bare frame when I made my mind up to get it back together. Put a rebuilt d35 back up front with my skyjacker brackets set at 6"lift. Rear is just an 8.8 for now with 4" blocks and beltech shackles. I put the reg cab back on with factory seats from my 07, and new model front clip.
Current drivetrain is a 4.0 ohv, 5spd, and manual t case. Deleted egr, tossed in the Taurus efan, freshened the motor up, and pulled the hydro boost off for now.
Fired it up last weekend. Still need to install my new shocks, set bed on, and drop the linkage on the super runner kit. Oh and pick out a set of tires. Then it'll be back on the road. Pics later today or tomorrow

Wasn't the whole reason of pulling this down was the 5.0 swap? You could have at least stayed with that idea...lol

Mocked up 33x12.50s. They're just not the same as 37s lol

Minor updates:
-truck runs, all drive train completed
-recieved the wrong bushings for my super runner steering so waiting on those so I can install and drop the tres
-interior done minus floor and headliner. My headliner is shot and ripped the carpet out due to something leaking on driver side during heavy rain. Going to bed line and add drain plugs.
-have to make some form of intake. Thinking cowl snorkel.
-have to wire in Volvo fan relay for Taurus efan.

Few pics

Nice progress! Keep up the good work.
