Currently working on my 300 swapped 1998 ranger named “rocket pop” posted a bit in the “ford six” forums but figured I spread out to other forums.

My name is Ethan and I bought this 1998 ford ranger 2wd with 70,000 miles on it, found a red front end, and a blue bed of my old ranger. Lifted it 2 inches. Drove it awhile and melted the wrist pin out of a cylinder and decided I throw my favorite motor in it.

I've seen one other 300, running, but in an older ranger. How far have you got?

300 straight six is my favorite engine as well - I assume you had to go electric fans, no room in front... did you have to remodel the firewall?

yeah I going electric fan route for the radiator. today I got the engine about were I would like it. tomorrow the transmission is going to go on and I will see how much remodeling on the firewall I will have to do.

Doing any performance work to the 300?

yes I did. bought it off of marketplace and rebuilt it new bearings, rings, gaskets. The guy before me put a cam in it. I have a 4 barrel and EFI system for it. Efi manifolds. the head was reworked with bigger valves. should be a rowdy little motor.

Nice. Gonna be a bit before I get to it but I’m gonna be rebuilding my F-150 at some point in the next couple years and probably going to give the 300 in that some love

Where are you planning to install the radiator ???

I'm surprised it fits but robust engine. Great idea.

It will definitely be interesting to see how you make it work. A straight six is a long engine for a Ranger engine bay. Good luck and God speed!
