So I bought a max trac supsension for my 2WD 05 Ranger to give it more of an aggressive look. I have 2 4 inch lift spindles for the front and 2 2 inch lift shackles for the back. I took it to my guy and he said I needed new shocks and a sway bar. What size shocks would I need? What are good shocks to get? What size sway bar and where can I get a quality one? I never realized how difficult it would be to lift a 2WD truck but I’m determined to get it done any help is greatly appreciated.

Changing the spindles from stock to lifted doesn’t change shock length or sway bar. so The front should be a non-issue. Not sure about your year truck but when I put heavier suspension in my 2000 2wd that lifted the back around 2” I used shocks from a 4x4 because they came factory with 2” lift blocks that mine didn’t have. When I lifted my choptop, I cycled the suspension when I was done and got measurements for compressed and extended length on the shocks and had an auto parts store break out the books and find me what I needed

You don't need front shocks, or sway bar.

For the rear, bilstiens are highly regarded shocks. Go on their website and buy a pair for your truck advertised to work with a 2" lift.

I do like my Billsteins. did all 4 corners of my truck last year. about 300 bucks for all four tho..

bilstein makes a great shock. well worth the money.
you might want to find another shop to do the work. Maybe one who knows what theyre doing...

Im starting to think I must be the only person who thinks bilstiens are reasonably priced lol 🤷‍♀️ sure... they are usually twice as expensive as most shocks but.. i think most shocks are pretty damn cheap for what they do and how many miles they last. Fox shocks though... thems pricey.

I put Skyjacker shocks on 10 years ago. IIRC about half the price of Bilistien.

10k miles/10 years later they are whooped and I am slowly swapping to Bilistien. Rear is done, I need to do the fronts yet. $150 an end does hurt but dang do they make a difference.
