2007 Ranger with a 2012 4.0

Hi group. I am looking at a 2007 Ranger 4x4 FX4 that recently had a newer 2012 engine with 12,000 miles into it. The truck will not start and the engine does not turn over. The owner has started to strip body parts and has given up on it. Is this a project that I should buy and try to figure out what happened with what the mechanic did to it? He did not change the computer or the switch and nothing is happening. So he wants to sell me the truck without it starting and as is condition? I really have no idea how to proceed. The front bumper,, passenger door is off, radio gone and back bed at this point. He is asking $500 dollars for it and he has the title. Please share your thoughts? thanks Jim

For $500 I'd jump all over that. As long as the engine isn't locked up.

If if doesn't crank it can only be so many things, and most of them are easy to check/fix.

2007 Ranger not starting.

Hi Help, So if I can put a wrench on the engine and if turns do the deal. As long as I get the keys, the title and the engine spins go for it right? I am a little nervous like jumping into the ocean of the unknown filled with sharks. I am not sure why he is not pushing to make this truck start so it can move but we live in a strange universe.
