2001 ford ranger xlt ext cab flareside windshield replacement questions?

I'll trade my slider for a solid window lol.

The extra airflow IS nice.. as long as you don't have leaves or sand in the bed.. I have leaves all over my dash right now 🙃 but I like the clean look the single piece provides. Two windows down is enough airflow for a regular cab anyways imo

too bad you are at the top of the usa and i am at the bottom.

The slider works well in hot weather, keeping the cab from getting hot. Rolling down windows is good, but that slider really helps.

I would expect a slider would cost $400 if Ford has them in stock. Maybe you could get off cheaper on Ebay. definitely less if you pulled it yourself.

yup, 402 from ford

I recall a friend who locked his keys inside his truck. He called a locksmith who opened the door in less than a minute using a door opener tool. That's why I never bother to lock my door.
You can also use the antenna. I’m not joking.
Saw it online, thought “that’s insane, good to know but I’ll never use it”. Then a month ago or so I got out on the side of the highway to adjust my tonneau cover, and managed to lock my keys and phone inside the truck as I got out. All I had was a ratchet strap and my antenna. Used the ratchet strap as a “wrench” to remove the antenna, fiddled for 5 mins, and popped the lock open.

I had thought about threadlocking the antenna in, but now that it’s saved my butt it’s worth the risk of someone breaking in that way.

At that price I'd definitely hit the junkyard. Even if you don't trust yourself enough to put it back in and get it sealed, it's about a 45 minute job to remove for a first time person being extremely careful. If you went in and found a truck with missing seats (just for more space to work) and a small cordless impact it could be out in 5 minutes.

Here's another tip. You could take a friend and buy some beer. You will have to push the glass outward into the bed. He could catch the window to keep it from dropping. And if you are all alone, then find some old wheels and tires and throw the in the bed to break the fall.

It will cost about $35.00 plus the beer.
