2.3 carb help. What are these gizmos?


Yea it's an eslinger or something cam gear. I just left it at zero and didn't mess with that.
 
There's to be an inner timing cover bolted to the engine behind the belt with the cam timing pointer on it. The cam pointer would be just about straight down from the cam bolt. If you run that without an inner cover you could start it one morning and throw the belt when it grinds up the mouse who slept there last night.
 
Yea that cover is no where to be found. :rolleyes:
 
Set it with the mark on the cam straight down and you'll at least have a starting point. It'll probably run and when you drive it you'll know right off if it's wrong, even 1 tooth off is noticeable.
