Hello TRS! New member here.

I have a 1991 4.0 v6 ranger XLT and have no power to my fuel pump. The only source of power I have is 4 volts that I figure is the fuel gauge. I have replaced the 30A fuse, the fuel relay switch, and have bypassed the inerta switch;(all 3 have proper power according to research on fourms). The truck has sat for about 6 years so I also have a brand new fuel pump. Starter fluid makes it run for a second or two, so spark air but no fuel. Any knowledge on this issue would be amazing. Thank you!!

Use a jumper wire across the fuel pump relay...

If pump turns on... check the control side of the relay.

If it doesn't turn on... check for an open in the fuel pump supply wire between the relay and the pump.

And welcome to TRS...

I'm also moving your post to the 4.0L forum... will probably get more looks there then in the introduce yourself forum. Maybe go back and create a new post there and show us a picture of your truck... most of us like clean older trucks from out there. When don't see many in the north.

Thank you uncle! I appreciate the information and you helping me move my post.

I ended up troubleshooting it down to a bad ground. In the 91 4.0 ranger there is a 40A fuse/ECC relay that powers a lot of small components under the hood (injectors, sensors, etc). One of the wiring harnesses go back to the transmission solenoids, and I had found that the wired had melted to the exhaust manifold and caused a short on the solenoid plug in and melted the whole thing.. I am going to upload a video to YouTube in hopes that I can save someone some time and money.
