looks like death wobble might be a thing if you incorporate those packs... . might want to look at some j packs.... just in terms of travel

i like the k5 springs myself. but i am also running a heavy ass gorilla axle.
Seen plenty of guys run yj springs with no issues. I don’t necessarily want to keep the springs like this but it’s what I have and don’t have budget for new yj springs. K5 springs would be way overkill and probably land way more lift than I’m after
 
Still in mock up but if you ask me that’s how these trucks should have came 🤣👌 love a low solid axle ranger. Selling my spare 8.8 disc rear so that’ll help a bunch. Get the bottle refilled. Finish weld the motor mounts and manifold and move on to getting the axle hung and see what the height looks like. See if I can get away with a stock replacement yj spring or move to maybe a 2” lift yj leaf

Yup...my truck is lower than it was with ttb.

It's built to run 42s and roll in a standard 7 foot garage door.

Yj springs with a 2.9 or 4.0 work very well...so should be right on for the 300.

We shall see man. Holding the weight is one thing I just need to be mindful of steering and might end up making a new drag link to clear the pan. We will see how close the high steer is once hangers and shackles are kicked up. And see where the shackles want to go.

I had some adjustable brackets for quite a time for set up dial in.


In your current scenario....stock k 5 springs would be lower.

Stock k5 springs also have a significantly high lb rating than yj so I’m not completely sold that it would set lower. Also think it would ride a hell of slot worse too 😅 never been in a square body that rode remotely decent I’ll say lol. I’d thought about sliders but I do have friends who ran them and one impact away from it binding and snapping or just ruining your day. They’ve switched back to rear mount shackles

i have been doing this a long time.

putting various axles and spring combos on jeeps...s10s rangers fullsize trucks of every vintage even some gasser..ect...

you are placing hangers no matter what right?

.... so with flattish springs ride height is whatever you want it to be.

the springs you have as pictured have a certain arch and working range... and i do not know what that is because i am not sure exactly what they are.

the stock blazer springs are flatish. they are whats commonly referred to as 52's or 54's....as compared to normal 48 fronts.

the key here is actual length of spring overall and eye to pin split.

there is several rate capacities for the springs...they are springs.

travel is the general goal...controlled travel generally.

Makes sense and yes these have a forced arch from an add a leaf. The packs coming apart as I have no confidence that it’ll perform well or maintain its strength. As for a flat blazer leaf I can’t afford to be that low either lol I’ve seen waggy swaps and those are manageable but as far as relying on a flat leaf in this particular setup… not sure it would work well in travel or height with the high steer.

you need to flip down the tie rod to under the steering arm and go spring under based on this.

Spring under just crashes into the steering to begin with it’s why it was fitted with high steer to begin with.


i think you are misunderstanding me.
 
spring under is the normal position for a jeep axle for a very good reason in regards to torque management and steering

Yes I’m aware and almost all yj you see is SOA with high steer because it doesn’t jive with SUA in nearly all applications I’ve seen done.
